This unique old-fashioned telephone is a real hidden gem of Main Street. Tucked away in two corners of the Market House Deli, you can pick it up to listen in to a hilarious loop of “authentic” turn-of-the-century small town telephone conversations… until they hear your breathing and you’re rumbled!

Previously known as Disney Characters’ Express and Minnie’s Party Train, Casey Jr has been given a brand new look for the 2010-2011 season and now features a permanent character: WALL-E, sitting atop the coal tender of the engine! The whole parade travels up Main Street USA several times a day before stopping at Central Plaza for meet ‘n’ greets with the collection of characters on board to the theme song “tous en train”.

Seen in August 2010, this train featured The Incredibles, Remy and Emile from Ratatouille, Chip and Dale, Goofy, Minnie, Tigger, Eeyore, Pinocchio and Lilo & Stitch.

In 2011, it will become known as Disney Dance Express for the Disney Magical Moments Festival.

Mickey Mouse, Minnie, Goofy, Donald and friends come together for a grand celebration of the newest Disney heroes, a fun medley of music and character moments on the giant 360-degree stage in front of Sleeping Beauty Castle. Multiple costume changes and clever set-pieces make this a spectacle to remember, especially as Princess Tiana (The Princess and the Frog) transforms her frog into a real Prince before your very eyes!

Situated at the back of Toy Story Playland amongst mature trees which double as overgrown bushes in this oversized universe, RC Racer is the big thrill of the land and the park’s third roller coaster when it opened in August 2010.

It’s 10am on Tuesday, 17th August 2010 and the ribbon has just been cut at Toy Story Playland, the new land at Walt Disney Studios Park! As the crowds rush inside, we’re first in line for Toy Soldiers Parachute Drop – a thrilling and fun ascent and descent drop tower where the Green Army Men train you for a daring mission in Andy’s Backyard. The engines of your circling plane roar overhead and you’re afforded a stunning aerial view over the whole of the new Toy Story Playland, including Slinky Dog Zigzag Spin, RC Racer and the upcoming Ratatouille area!

This unique video shows an on-ride view of the second “official” ride of opening day. The on-ride portion begins 3 mins 12 secs in.

The quick pan around to the right as the crowd begins to rush into the land shows the gathered crowd of Imagineers and Cast Members watching events unfold from the sidelines, including Kat de Blois, Tom Fitzgerald and Chrissie Allen, Senior Show Producer for Disneyland Paris.

See the green army men training new recruits at Toy Soldiers Parachute Drop, guests riding the spings of Slinky Dog Zigzag Spin as he chases his own tail and the big thrill of RC Racer – a huge orange Hot Wheels halfpipe which shoots you back and forth into 90-degree dives!

Also in the new land, opened 17th August 2010 within Toon Studio, you’ll find a giant, talking Rex the dinosaur, the iconic ball from Luxo Jr, a Barrel of Monkeys store kiosk and walkthrough tunnel, planes, a jeep and soldier props, plus of course the giant Buzz Lightyear himself at the entrance, every now and then coming to life with his memorable recorded phrases in both French and English. His “laser” (a not-so-little light bulb) even blinks!

The video ends with a glimpse down the Ratatouille -themed street now situated at the back of the park, running the length of Toy Story Playland and speculated to become the home of a new dark ride for the 20th Anniversary of the resort.

For the first time in Paris, each float features more than one group of characters, and all come overflowing with clever special effects, glitter, sparkling LED lights, moving props, live puppets and a huge range of dancers and street entertainers – Tigger can even properly bounce! The beautiful float music was orchestrated by Steve Sidwell (Moulin Rouge) and recorded by the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra of London.

The clock parade is inspired by similar animated clocks around the world – and particularly in Europe – such as Prague’s Astronomical Clock.

The Disneyland Paris version of this classic Worlds Fair attraction is completely different and unique from all the others. Housed within one complete, continuous space, it employs a more modern pastel design style and of course, includes extensive scenes for Europe and a brand new North America scene.

We climb aboard at Fantasyland Station in the British quarter of the land, a gleaming, one-of-a-kind Disneyland Railroad station reminiscent of the Victorian railway boom. From here, we steam past the glorious blossom trees, passing by Storybook Land and “it’s a small world” along the way. From Discoveryland, it’s an uphill climb past the booming Columbiad cannon of Space Mountain to Main Street, the quintessential turn-of-the-century American town.

From the beautiful, elevated Main Street Station, the engine takes us right through the Grand Canyon Diorama — a stunning tableux of scenes from the great American West set to Ferdé Grofe’s “On the Trail” from the Grand Canyon Suite. Then, with a smack of the whip and the soundtrack of the Magificent Seven, we emerge into the real thing — Frontierland, with its rivers and peaks, expanding out in one of Disney’s most awe-inspiring vistas ever.

Frontierland Depot is the place to take on water, and secure the train — from the rural pastures here, we enter Adventureland, the world’s most mysterious region! Explorers and pirates await… before we arrive back at Fantasyland Station, grand circle tour complete!

Based on the 1937 Silly Symphonies cartoon of the same name, the mill still houses a small food vending kiosk selling wraps and other snacks.

When the park opened in 1992, these passageways were originally part of the larger Adventureland Bazaar (much of which later became Agrabah Café). With the added capacity programme of 1993, however, they were converted into an attraction in their own right, using the designs of the Disney film released just the year before.

No longer included are the Costuming building and Pearl Harbor sets, and the tour now follows the same route for its entire length between the two loop-backs at Catastrophe Canyon and Reign of Fire. The items from the former Props Boneyard have mostly disappeared, with some of the space along the new route filled by the vehicles and planes from the old Pearl Harbor scene.

The tour now has even longer lulls between scenes and is frequently criticised by fans and guests alike.

This is one fantastical legend that isn’t looking for a happily ever after. A huge, monstrous Audio-Animatronic like none you’ve ever seen before, masterfully hidden under the pleasant green hill to the left of Le Château de la Belle au Bois Dormant.

The dragon Maleficent is entirely unique to Disneyland Paris and was, at the park’s opening, the largest Audio Animatronic ever made.

Also includes a short excerpt from the brass band at St Pancras who play “When You Wish Upon a Star”, timed perfectly to end just as you hear “bing bong… the Eurostar to Disneyland is now ready for boarding!” …And the magic begins!

It’s 8.53am, the sun is shining, the music is already ringing in your eyes. What a fabulous Disney day lies ahead! Take a front seat and follow the road to Disneyland, as if you’re there. Bienvenue à Disneyland Paris!

They all dance along to a musical medley of favourites from the film, including “Let’s go Fly a Kite”, “Step in Time” and “Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious”, plus “Put on Your Sunday Clothes” from saccarine turn-of-the-century musical “Hello Dolly”, as heard in Disney-Pixar’s WALL-E.

Based on the boats seen in Walt Disney’s film Davy Crockett and the River Pirates, the Coyote and Raccoon give guided tours of the Rivers of the Far West at a speedy pace. They might have been overtaken in style and comfort by the mighty stern-wheel riverboats, but these keelboats can take you right up close to the fascinating landscape and roaming wildlife of the islands.

They’ve become the transport of choice for the roguish river pirates, who hide their hauls in Smugglers’ Cove, just next to the keelboats’ landing stage!

Now in its second season, Disneyland Park celebrates the music of Disney’s hit modern-day fairytale film Enchanted with a spectacular, touching fireworks display in the sky above Sleeping Beauty Castle that celebrates the stages of a true romance – from charm to passion, to the happy ending.

Spotlights caress and gently stroke the castle, candles illuminate a romantic dinner, the waltzing lights of “So Close” burst into the fiery fan of a heart beating with passion… And the happy ending will leave you wanting romance ever more!

Ready to dance? With none other than Stitch as your DJ, this is a party you don’t want to miss. To funky tunes and space-age sounds, he’ll guide you through a colourful, live-action dance contest.

Several times each day, his booming and beating podium will roll into Discoveryland, bringing with it an inescapable feel-good atmosphere. Can you match the extra-terrestrial master of dance?

Ready and seated, with the live Barbeque Band at their country instruments, your hostess (miss Summer Camp 200–err–1985) suddenly informs you there’s a special guest on the way — the director of the camp himself, Goofy!

Everyone look lively, follow the actions and keep that smile, this summer extravaganza needs to go off without a hitch! Unfortunately, a gaggle of Goofy’s closest friends aren’t so keen to follow the rules…

This was the Final Performance of Summer 2009, with plenty of extra jokes going on in the background to look out for and a special curtain call finale for all the characters. Notice also that, during the dance moves game, the adults pulled from the audience are not regular guests, but… the entire production crew of the show itself!

Launched in 2005, the balloon is operated by Aérophile, who opened a similar experience — named ‘Characters in Flight’ — in Downtown Disney at Walt Disney World Resort in Florida in 2009.
