As promised, we’ve hopped aboard one of Main Street’s classic Horse-Drawn Streetcars for an early-morning ride right up to Central Plaza, in HD.

Pass by the smiling faces and towering buildings of a bustling morning in a turn-of-the-20th-century American “city”. What a wonderful way to start the day!

This is the first video to use a new, larger size for its “Standard Definition” version, increased to 855 pixels wide from the old 650 pixels. The bitrate is still around about the same, but having a larger player makes viewing much easier without you having to go full-screen or HD. Speaking of which, we’ve actually downsized that player just slightly, to be the same standard size (but the videos remain much better quality).

It’s a new video double today. In the final weeks of Summer, the late performance times of the two main Mickey’s Magical Party events and the darkening nights gave these two shows a unique new atmosphere.

In Discoveryland, for example, you could actually see the coloured lights guiding your dance moves:

And a little later in the evening, with a darker sky and beautifully-illuminated castle, the centrepiece show saw Mickey’s LED-encrusted costume truly sparkle:

If you couldn’t make it to the parks this Summer, amongst the gleaming attractions and gorgeous weather you missed a brand new show. Goofy’s Summer Camp might have turned away as many fans as it won over, with its entirely French character voices, childish games and over-reliance on interactivity, but there was a lot to love — a wonderful live country band for one.

And even if that doesn’t quite make it as winning a formula as seasonal cousin Mickey’s Winter Wonderland, you’re encouraged to watch this — the very last performance of the Summer — when characters misbehaved, show directors were put in the spotlight, everyone joined in a special finale and Goofy’s driver… crashed into the set.

The Updates page has been… updated!

Now featuring a new, simpler design, it’s running as a WordPress blog, which means you’ll now be able to view updates individually and search all the entries by category — Guidebook, Calendar, Video, etc. (using the buttons on the left). Most importantly, the updates won’t disappear forever when they drop off the page, and they can be posted from any computer, giving much more flexibility.

On the right, you’ll find the new Feeds column, with more of the latest from all the Disneyland Paris projects in our little web family. Note the new Memorabilia Blog, which will be getting going during September, and the long-awaited return of the “latest from the forum”, made possible via the new magicforum Twitter feed.

This has all been set up in just 24 hours, so there’s still a few things to be sorted. One special new feature in particular will be Comments, meaning you can respond directly to each and every update (be kind!). You’ll start seeing more changes appear at the start of September.

Finally, if you subscribe to the RSS Feed, first of all — thank you! Second of all — don’t worry about a thing. An invisible redirect has been put in place “backstage”, so whichever old feed URL you originally subscribed to, you’ll continue to get all the updates.
