Have you paid a visit to Euro Souvenirland yet? This is our new website, launched late in 2009, which aims to collect and celebrate Disneyland Paris history — from 1992 to today.

It’s been a while since we featured the site here, so if you’ve not dropped by in all that time there’s a whole lot of new — or rather old — things to discover.

• A brand new section — the Gallery — already containing over 100 incredible photos from the resort’s past. Some you might have seen, now re-scanned in high quality, others are completely new, with plenty of rarities. From unique construction views to parades of the past and closed attractions. We’re currently adding a new photo every day from a contributor with a great collection of retro snaps like this one, never before seen.
• Plus — over 120 additional items on the Memorabilia pages. Including… Rare publications like this 1994 Magic Kingdom Club brochure, or the Walt Disney Studios Park guide map from its February 2002 previews. Even more classic postcards, complete holiday brochures from years gone by, and lots of fun miscellaneous items.
• And also — a teaser of the upcoming Timeline pages, giving a comprehensive look back over the many name and logo changes of Disneyland Paris.

The attraction closed to become Space Mountain: Mission 2, but of course, it will never be lost — we can still remember it through memorabilia — lots of memorabilia! — a new item for every day this week:

Space Mountain: De la Terre à la Lune

Right now, we recommend checking out the Winter 1995 issue of The Disney Magazine, from which we’ve scanned an article all about the history, creation and innovation of the ride, the first roller coaster in the world to feature a completely synchronised on-board soundtrack. Tomorrow (Wednesday) be sure to come back for a stunning magazine covering the attraction’s spectacular grand opening events.

You can also find these and other Space Mountain items collected together in the new Exhibitions area of the site, which now provides dedicated pages for each of these mini-seasons.

After the successful Advent Calendar which presented 24 brand new memorabilia items, our new website Euro Souvenirland is now giving you a piece of history to open up for each of the 12 Days of Christmas, with particular focus now turning to the Millennium events of 1999-2000.

Today for example, 31st December 2009, imagine you’re walking through the gates of Disneyland Paris a decade ago — picking up your commemorative 1999-2000 park guidemap…

If not, why not?! To help launch this new website and count down to Christmas, we’ve been posting a fascinating piece of Disneyland Paris history every single day this month. From magazines and guide maps to entire books and brochures, there’s been a new window into the past to open each morning.

And remember to keep checking back each day — over the big week ahead, these pieces of Disneyland Paris history we’ve got lined up are just going to get better and better. It’s almost… well, it’s almost like Christmas!

Of course! And now, not content with its original 500+ attractions, Euro Souvenirland is entering a phase of rapid expansion, adding one brand new item of memorabilia every single day this month, right up until Christmas! It’s our advent calendar gift to you, something new to discover each and every day. Something you’ve perhaps never seen before, or something that brings the memories rushing back.

Additions so far include this eye-catching pre-opening brochure leaflet and our third full issue of the original Cast Member magazine, En Coulisse. You’d have trouble getting back-issues of these now, but we happened upon a whole stack of them and as you can see already, they make for truly fascinating reading — if you can drag your eyes away from the never-before-seen construction photos and other wonderful snippets of history.

Heading towards 2010, which still sounds ridiculously futuristic, Euro Souvenirland has a long way to grow yet. As current plans stand, future phases (we’re staying on-theme here) will include a complete Timeline, a return of the Blog, a dedicated Videos section and a Gallery — where those construction and history photos you might have noticed missing will find a dedicated home.

Now featuring a new, simpler design, it’s running as a WordPress blog, which means you’ll now be able to view updates individually and search all the entries by category — Guidebook, Calendar, Video, etc. (using the buttons on the left). Most importantly, the updates won’t disappear forever when they drop off the page, and they can be posted from any computer, giving much more flexibility.

On the right, you’ll find the new Feeds column, with more of the latest from all the Disneyland Paris projects in our little web family. Note the new Memorabilia Blog, which will be getting going during September, and the long-awaited return of the “latest from the forum”, made possible via the new magicforum Twitter feed.

This has all been set up in just 24 hours, so there’s still a few things to be sorted. One special new feature in particular will be Comments, meaning you can respond directly to each and every update (be kind!). You’ll start seeing more changes appear at the start of September.

Finally, if you subscribe to the RSS Feed, first of all — thank you! Second of all — don’t worry about a thing. An invisible redirect has been put in place “backstage”, so whichever old feed URL you originally subscribed to, you’ll continue to get all the updates.
