New: Guidebook homepage

Sun, 11 May 2008 16:58:57 GMT

Today, we're pleased to unveil our brand new Guidebook homepage. More colourful, more professional and easier to read, you'll hopefully agree it's a big improvement on the old design.

This is the first page of many, many more to be given a brand new design that has been in preparation for quite some time. See, the Guidebook pages should be colourful, like a Disney fansite requires, yet white and clear, like a real-life guidebook. Finally, it looks like this might have reached the perfect compromise.

Expect more new Guidebook pages to appear gradually soon, and this homepage itself to grow bigger and more useful as they do.

You can see an earlier mock-up of a new attraction page here.

Over 1,000 DLRP Reviews; New: Marne-la-Vallée hotels

Sat, 03 May 2008 15:25:12 GMT

DLRP Review

Last month, DLRP Review.com officially broke into the thousands! The only dedicated Disneyland Resort Paris reviews website in the world accepted its 1,000th review just seven months after launching as a small ‘BETA’ website on 9th September 2007.

The third website in the DLRP Magic.com family, DLRP Review was completely relaunched in November 2007 to include every attraction, restaurant, entertainment and hotel at the resort in an easy-to-use system that allows members to rate out of 10 or write their own review.

Currently, the website has no less than 483 members, between them sharing 1,026 reviews and giving an overwhelming 2,540 individual ratings.

To mark the 1000th review, we have expanded our Hotels category to include a wide range of locations within the Marne-la-Vallée area, mainly along the RER Line A. They're all still blank and waiting for your reviews and ratings. Feel free to get involved and start reviewing -- be as kind or as critical as you like! Also, please contact us if you know more hotels (good or bad!) that could or should be included here.

If you haven't registered for DLRP Review yet, click here! It only takes a second, then you'll be ready to rate and review everything at Disneyland Resort Paris.

4th: River Rogue Keelboats with 16% (9 votes)

Video Vote 2.2 is now open, the theme this week "Hold it steady!" -- a new collection of our braver or more difficult on-ride videos to choose from. From scoring points whilst shooting film on Buzz to holding steady and stifling screams on... Temple du Péril! Click here to vote now.

Update: New times, dates and Calendar features

Sat, 26 Apr 2008 21:35:20 GMT

We're pleased to announce that the first full edition of the popular DLRP Magic! Calendar is now complete. Sporting a much improved design and new features, the Calendar has also just recently been updated with the latest Park Schedule (up to 4th May) and new Annual Passport restriction dates for 2008 and 2009.

The new Calendar is now a central place for all the latest dates, times and events at Disneyland Resort Paris. These final updates have seen the Closures & Refurbishments, Entertainment Seasons and Annual Passport Restrictions sections completed with new individual colours and archive pages.

Our new Entertainment Seasons guide will be one of the most useful for anyone planning a trip around entertainment -- it lists all the current known dates for parades, shows, fireworks and seasons, information which the new official Disneyland Resort Paris website does not provide. The information is now listed by month, rather than by type of entertainment.

Navigation on the Daily Park Schedules has been improved no end with a small tweak to the calendar at the side of each page. This now shows the month you're viewing straight away (say May 2008), rather than the current month (April 2008), with the actual day you're looking at also highlighted in dark blue.

Finally, the latest addition allows you to click the name of a closed attraction on the Daily Park Schedules to be taken to a full archive of all the dates in the system where that attraction is scheduled for closure.

The Calendar has been a surprising success for us since it first launched in November last year, with the new version now recording more weekly visitors than both DLRP Magic! Video and DLRP Review.

New: Mary Poppins show & Video Vote returns!

Tue, 22 Apr 2008 23:56:50 GMT

DLRP Magic! Video is proud to present another online premiere: the new Mary Poppins morning show on Main Street, USA. The show sees Mary, Bert, Penguins and Victorian couples arrive by car and bicycle on Town Square, joining together for a jolly holiday to the park!

The rumoured name of 'Good Morning Mary Poppins' has been dropped in favour of simply 'Mary Poppins', no translations required...

You can also download the full video in WMV format here.

But that's not all -- our popular DLRP Magic! Video Vote has just returned for a second season! This is the weekly poll where YOU decide which brand new video we add to the website each weekend.

The options for each episode are joined by a common theme, this week it's "Disneyland Sightseeing" -- you've got a choice between full rides on Molly Brown or River Rogue Keelboats, a relaxing voyage through Le Pays des Contes de Fées or a faster-than-the-speed-of-light blast off aboard Orbitron, at nighttime.

Vote now, the winning video will be here on Saturday!

New Video: High School Musical 2: School's Out!

Wed, 09 Apr 2008 12:20:51 GMT

Three videos last week and now a brand new premiere... are we spoiling ourselves? Well, DLRP Magic! has returned from the magic again with a whole load of brand new videos, so let's get started...

The Video Vote will be returning soon to let YOU decide what comes first, but before then.... What time is it? Summer time!

Well, not quite yet in Marne-la-Vallée, but try telling that to the brilliant cast of...

You can also download the full video in WMV format here.

It's also worth pointing out that our videos are no longer being uploaded to YouTube and Dailymotion, at least for the time being, so the website is now the only place to see them.

New Video: Ciné Folies: Panique sur Hollywood Blvd!

Wed, 02 Apr 2008 11:17:17 GMT

No new video will be posted next Saturday -- so instead, we're treating you to two brand new videos during this week! Here's the first -- a very Hitchcock-ian entry into the Ciné Folies library of classics, as a young damsel is attacked by birds outside Last Chance Gas!

Update: Park Schedule for 1st - 20th April

Mon, 31 Mar 2008 11:17:37 GMT

The latest park schedule, covering the new Spring season, has just been released! You can find it day-by-day on the relaunched DLRP Magic! Calendar.

Note the launch of several new events such as High School Musical 2 and Good Morning Mary Poppins, along with the return of Spring/Summer favourites like The Tarzan Encounter and Good Morning Walt Disney Studios. The new schedule also reveals a very positive change for Candleabration, which now performs at or much nearer to park closing time, ensuring the illuminations ceremony sees mostly nighttime performances. Disney's Once Upon a Dream Parade also shifts to a new later time of 17:00 from next weekend.

Also note the changes to the schedule for Walt Disney Studios Park next weekend, when press events will disturb the park a little. On Saturday, one Animagique performance is cancelled, the usual afternoon character meet 'n' greets are cancelled, Shooting Live is cancelled and the premiering High School Musical 2 will see only one (!) performance. The new HSM2 show continues on a very limited schedule until the 12th, when the original High School Musical On Tour returns and Toon Train makes a comeback as a character meet 'n' greet event more similar to the Characters' Express than last year's live music show.

New Video: La Galerie de la Belle au Bois Dormant

Sat, 29 Mar 2008 12:49:14 GMT

It's Saturday, and that means only one thing: another new video added to the DLRP Magic! Video library! This week, we take a relaxing stroll around a true gem of Disneyland Resort Paris...

You can also download the full video in WMV format here.

Fri, 28 Mar 2008 16:35:42 GMT

The DLRP Magic! Calendar now lists the full park hours for the month of June 2008.

These pages are also the latest to feature the improved design which was recently launched on the Daily Park Schedules.

It's the end of our long holiday weekend and, as a special Easter treat, we've got another brand new video uploaded to the site! Enjoy the seasonal springtime adventures of Winnie the Pooh and his friends, too - the full show on Fantasy Festival Stage...

New Video: Toon Studio Atmosphere

Sun, 23 Mar 2008 04:37:16 GMT

'Atmosphere' used to be a rare thing at Walt Disney Studios Park but, since June 2007, there's now plenty to enjoy on a warm Summer afternoon, as captured in this weekend's brand new video...

New: Improved daily Calendar launches

Sat, 22 Mar 2008 07:22:08 GMT

Our reworking of the DLRP Magic! Calendar has begun with the Daily Park Schedules, which are now sporting a smart new design.

A different system for displaying the show and parade times makes the process of inputting them far easier and more efficient. In the design, a new "Don't Miss" column automatically highlights the best of what's showing on each particular day. Just four features will show up for now but more will be added soon, along with a full redesign for the rest of the Calendar.

The latest entertainment programme has also been added to the system, providing schedules up until 31st March 2008 alongside park hours, Extra Magic Hours, annual passport blackouts and pin releases.

Happy Birthday, Walt Disney Studios Park!

Sun, 16 Mar 2008 15:44:07 GMT

Well well well... doesn't time fly? Six years ago today, then-resort CEO Jay Rasulo joined Mickey and Minnie Mouse to officially open Walt Disney Studios Park to the public. The dreams of 1987 finally become a reality as Disneyland Paris gained a "Resort" tag and welcomed the first guests to its second gate.

Of course, things were never quite that rosy, especially as the days began to pass. One more financial restructuring and rescue plan later, and given an extra six years, however, our second theme park has become a wonderful little gem in the world of Disney theme parks. It still needs more theme, sure, and it's still more than a little on the small side, true, but behind those movie studio facades, there's a lot of care and attention to detail -- not to mention some of the best Disney attractions in the world.

With a list starting with CinéMagique, Moteurs... Action!, Rock 'n' Roller Coaster, being brought right up to date with Tower of Terror, Crush's Coaster, the living character Stitch Live! and the delightfully-themed Cars Quatre Roues Rallye for the littl-uns, this is a park with a seriously impressive array of main features on its "now showing" list.

Given another few years, maybe we'll get a little more of that subtle cinema ambiance and plush surroundings to enjoy them in... Here's to the next six magical years!

DLRP Today relaunches with new look, new columns

Sat, 15 Mar 2008 19:12:21 GMT

Just a few weeks ago, the most popular website on dlrpmagic.com -- DLRP Today -- relaunched with a fresh new look, new features, frequent daily updates and a collection of brand new weekly columns. Now that the new site has had time to settle in -- and collect over 35,000 pageviews -- it seems about time we introduced a few of those new features.

So, welcome to a brand new tomorrow -- today!

New Design & Features

The new layout and design of DLRP Today isn't too far away from the previous style, but in the process of widening the pages to our standard 950px, we've tried to add a little more colour, more images from the resort and more useful features. Formerly just a sub-section of DLRP Magic!, the website now stands alone in the same way as DLRP Review. You can navigate amongst the three using the menu in the top-left of every page.

DLRP Today now also offers the latest weather forecast live from the resort, and, for the first time in almost a year, our entire Archives dating back to July 2006 have just been opened up. (A conflict between the location of images in our old Blogger posts with the current WordPress system previously blocked these pages. Now, we simply have the task of gradually revisiting each article and changing the URL of each image!)

The biggest change comes with the main menu and the homepage, where there are now two equal categories -- News & Rumours and Columns & Features. We've featured a few columns in the past, but now they're back and better than ever. Let's take a look at them:

Media Magic Interviews

DLRP Today is pleased to announce an official partnership with the popular French blog "Media Magic". For over a year, this gem of a website has been posting countless insightful interviews with the people behind the magic of Disney. Only available in French, we're delighted to announce that the author, Jérémie Noyer, will now be sharing brand new English translations of all his Disneyland Resort Paris-related interviews, exclusively on DLRP Today!

Three have already been published, take a look:
Media Magic: Interview with Katie Harris - show director, Disney's Once Upon a Dream Parade
Media Magic: Interview with Theron Skees - show producer, The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror
Media Magic: Interview with Christophe Leclercq - show director, Candleabration

dlrpTV
Every Monday

Another brand new column, dlrpTV is a weekly look at some of the more unusual, historic or simply magical videos that have been posted on the internet with the advent of the video sharing website.

Several have already been published, take a look:
dlrpTV: Anciens Shows de Disneyland Paris
dlrpTV: The Greatest Ride in the Universe
dlrpTV: ImagiNations on Parade
dlrpTV: Landing in EuroDisney

Wish List
Every Wednesday

Returning after a break of over six months, our Wish List is a popular weekly entry onto a list of dreams -- big and small -- for Disneyland Resort Paris. Everything from improving the hotel shuttle buses to releasing more soundtrack CDs, we aim to keep the wishes realistic and then let you decide whether it'd be on your own Wish List!

Several have already been published since the relaunch, take a look:
Wish List No.4: Return to Wonderland
Wish List No.5: Look out! Pink Elephants on parade!
Wish List No.6: The AWOL Apprentice

magicforum mélange
Every Sunday

Another returning favourite, the magicforum mélange is weekly roundup of the latest news and discussions from our magical partner forum. This is the best place to catch up on the latest rumours and discussion about DLRP as well as the latest news from the international resorts.

Several have already been published since the relaunch, catch up here:
magicforum mélange 24.02.3008
magicforum mélange 2.03.3008
magicforum mélange 9.03.3008

Question of the Week
Every Monday-Sunday

Finally, a brand new way for you to get involved. Each and every Monday, our Question of the Week picks up on a long-running Disneyland Resort Paris opinion-splitter or a topical news story and lets YOU have YOUR say. So far, we've already found out that, whilst you're happy for "The Celebration" to "Continue", you'd rather not see Disney Stars & Motor Cars replace Disney Cinema Parade...

We're now on our third question, vote and catch up on past results here:
With Tower of Terror open, what should the next big step be?
The 15th Anniversary Continues... so are you celebrating?
Disney Cinema Parade wraps - a welcome farewell?

And don't forget, all these new columns are in addition to the daily English news and rumour updates you've made such a popular feature for the past year-and-a-half!

New Video: Lilo & Stitch Catch the Wave Party

Fri, 14 Mar 2008 23:19:33 GMT

Better late than never! ...Especially since watching this wonderful Summer show is now the only way you'll be able to experience it. It won't return this year, due to the opening of 'Stitch Live!' just metres away...

You can also download the full video in WMV format here.

We'll have another new video for you this weekend, so stay tuned!
