Toon Studio

Still an Art of Disney?

It was a landmark of Walt Disney Studios. It had a warm and varied scheme of colours. It was a tribute to the real Disney Animation headquarters. And then they painted it blue. But, once the initial alarm bells stop ringing and you take a look at the entire Toon Studio project, it actually looks pretty good. Or does it?

One week at Toon Studio (Part 2)

Continued from Part 1.
We hit the weekend and a thick fog rolls into the Studios. Then, with the French holiday week over, construction picks up pace and more progress is finally visable. Scaffolding comes down, rockwork is finished, but there’s still no sign of life at the placemaking areas…

One week at Toon Studio (Part 1)

Since Disneyland Resort Paris is usually only a 3 or 4 day resort destination, you usually only get a brief glimpse at the workings of the place. Stay for longer, and suddenly you start to get a feel of the rhythm and day-to-day running, not least at the busy construction site of Toon Studio. Multiple days, multiple angles - this is a week in the life of Toon Studio’s construction…

Covered queue & a touch of Adventureland

Many fans were surprised past week when they saw a metalic structure rise at the future entrance for Crush’s Coaster. This structure will be a covered queueing area, which was not mentioned on previously released plans and concept art.

Encore plus de bleu!

Toon Studio: More and more blue paint, every day of every week… will it ever stop?! Studio 5’s side wall gets a full coat, the rockwork gets another coat, the front gets a half coat and Art of Disney Animation gets a new coat. There’s going to be a paint crisis in Marne-la-Valée at this rate - locals had certainly better not want to redecorate their homes blue until June at the earliest…

Ever more Toon Studio updates

Just when you think there’s going to be a lull in news from Toon Studio in Walt Disney Studios, ever more updates, photos and details appear! Art of Disney Animation gets a spot of blue paint, Cars Race Rally speeds ahead with its queue buildings and we learn that the Crush’s Coaster animationic of Bruce the shark will measure four metres from head to tail! It’s all just another day at Toon Studio…

Deep blue paint and extra detail

Crush is on his way to Walt Disney Studios, and his movie star list of demands has just landed on the Imagineering desk. First request: deep blue walls. And voilà - there they are! At Tower of Terror, meanwhile, more details are finally shining through from another dimension… (ie. behind the construction netting)

Extra trees for Art of Disney Animation!

News from WDSFans.com
Another day, another massive Walt Disney Studios Park improvement! After the Flying Carpets palm trees reported on Friday and the strong rumours of the addition of Stitch Encounter yesterday, today our reporter raptor1982 (Kristof) stepped out of Disney Studio 1 to discover a line of about 3 to 4 brand new trees…

5 Steps to transform a Studio, by WDI

There are magical things happening at Walt Disney Studios right now… Attractions are being added, colours being painted and characters invading.
After five years of guests accepting the park has potential, that potential is now being realised and this Studio is finally coming of age. Management have done one of the best turnarounds in Disney history, accepting the park’s opening faults and allowing drastic steps to put things right. And so, with the help of some new photos by Kyoto from Disney Magic Interactive forum, here are the 5 steps of Walt Disney Imagineering’s studio transformation…

Getting a peek (or a peck?) at the toons

For months now every Disneyland Resort Paris fan has been straining their neck and trying to master the art of levitation to see over the long, blue Toon Studio fence. Since the weekend, though, they’ve finally been given something to look at on the fence - and not just those “rats with wings!” either…

A splash of blue for the new Studio 5

Do you see it? Do you see it?! No? Well, in its own small way painting of the giant showbuilding for Crush’s Coaster, Studio 5, has officially begun! Unfortunately, the new splash of sky blue paint is currently a very tiny spot on the side of the building, hidden for the most part by the queue canopy of Flying Carpets Over Agrabah… They’re just teasing us now, aren’t they?

Number 5 has arrived; Cars races ahead

Washing back up on our side of the Atlantic for yet another Toon Studio story, we can see that, as WDS Fans reported yesterday, construction has progressed with the long-awaited addition of number 5 - the giant soundstage number - to the front of Crush’s Coaster. Over at Cars Race Rally, meanwhile, the queue building has suddenly raced ahead and more details about the ride have sped our way.

Making waves across the Atlantic

Get yourself on a plane to Orlando, and this “fall” you could experience some of the magic of Crush’s Coaster already, 7 months early! Pourquoi? Because Disney are playing their copycat games once again, and, after Space Mountain and Buzz Lightyear, Nemo is next on the attraction cross-overs checklist…

New for 2006: Construction Courtyard

So you’re a fan of construction sites and fences? Then head on over to Walt Disney Studios Park, where the art and the artistry of the building site is presented in all its glamorous, glittering glory. New for late September 2006, Animation Courtyard is transformed into Construction Courtyard with a new round of fences between Disney Studio 1 and Animagique…

A little touch of Studio style

Recap article: News from 16th September 2006.
Since the metal framework was completed and the heavy concrete walls rose around Crush’s Coaster to create a new Studio 5, we’ve grown used to the square design and sharp edges of the building. But now, finally, the main building housing the “Coaster” portion of the ride is nearing completion, and a touch of classic Studio style has arrived…
