Toon Studio

Casa Della Tires and more from Radiator Springs

From Chicago to LA… and now to Marne-la-Vallée! A whole new audience will be able to get their kicks on ‘66 when Cars Quatre Roues Rallye opens in June, and now the first recognisable locations from Pixar’s Route 66 are visible… from CGI to reality.

Studio 5 fresque brings the EAC to WDS

Way back at the very beginning of December, a small piece of the large mural/fresque covering the front of Crush’s Coaster appeared for one day only. Now, two months later, the final article has arrived! The grey concrete facade of the dark-ride building has been soaked in blue and turquoise, with a full-length fresque featuring Crush and his turtle friends.

Crush’s turtle testing

There have been rumblings for several weeks now that the ride system of Crush’s Coaster has already begun tests, but with only a few turtle shell cars being sent through the attraction each day, it must be like trying to win the lottery getting a snap of one from over “that” fence near Art of Disney Animation. Looks like someone won the jackpot, then…

Turtles, Cars and two fabulous dresses

We’ve seen visuals, we’ve seen concept art - and now, we can see the real thing. Disneyland Resort Paris has prepared some exciting new backstage photos ready to release to the press in the build-up to the launch of the 15th Anniversary Celebration, and they certainly know how to build some anticipation! Get a closer look at a turtle shell, a backstage look at a life-size Luigi and a brilliant glimpse at two dazzling new Princess dresses.

Building and illuminating three new attractions

The final two articles in Le Parisien’s series of five, covering the people working on the 15th Anniversary backstage, first look at the co-ordination of the huge construction project, and then at illuminating the finished attractions. They don’t divulge quite as many details as earlier articles, but I’ve fully translated them for you all the same.

Spilling the scenery, station and shells of Crush

It seems there’s no end to glimpses into the backstage of Disneyland Resort Paris right now. Latest to join the trend with nice publicity for the 15th Anniversary and its new attractions is the long-running German ProSeiben programme Disney Filmparade, which this week takes a look at the Imagineering of Crush’s Coaster. Prepare for an inside glimpse at dark ride scenes, a Sydney harbour and a very special turtle shell…

Opening dates and extra greenery

The new Toon Studio attractions at Walt Disney Studios Park continue to develop and gain colour and detail. This week, the first bushy conifer tree for Cars Race Rally was planted next to its iconic wind-sculpted rock, whilst the queue of Crush’s Coaster has now well and truly drowned in palm trees. Oh, and in other news - the opening and soft opening dates have been confirmed!

Agrabah’s new oasis finally unveiled

The Imagineers bring a long-awaited desert oasis to Paris, but the Marne-la-Vallée climate can’t quite provide the right weather. Amongst thick cloudy skies and heavy downpours of rain, guests at Walt Disney Studios Park can now discover the new tropical oasis in front of Flying Carpets Over Agrabah, opened to the public late last week.

Animation placemaking still drawn-out

The placemaking project at Animation Courtyard took a surprising step forward just before Christmas, with the construction fences around the new Art of Disney Animation trees removed in anticipation of large seasonal crowds. Why surprising? Because the new planting area still features no grass and no barrier after all these weeks - hardly an art of Disney.

It’s beginning to look a lot like the EAC

Dude, Crush has totally gone Australian with this Christmas thing - there’s not a fir tree in sight, but they’ve just added even more palms! Scaffolding on the rockwork is gone, paths are laid out and the queue line is filled with plants… it’s actually beginning to look a lot like a real Disney attraction.

Rocking around the Race Rally

Whilst many of us are surely Rocking Around the Christmas Tree by now, there’s only one kind of rock on the mind of the scenery artists of Cars Race Rally. In a similar style to Tower of Terror’s rapid construction spurt 12 months ago, December has been incredibly profitable for Lightning McQueen’s new home in Paris.

Crush hangs loose at Toon Studio

The creative text promised us we’d “hang loose with Nemo and Crush” at Crush’s Coaster, and now you can see Crush doing exactly that, as the first tests took place today for the huge poster mural to cover the front of the attraction’s showbuilding. No hurling on the mural, dude, ok? Just hung it…

Getting in gear for the Race Rally

With the DVD of Disney-Pixar’s Cars officially released today in the UK and the attraction, Cars Race Rally, due to open next year at Disneyland Resort Paris, it seems a perfect opportunity for some early race car advertising, right? Well, tow me away, but they’ve actually done just that - kachow!

New Resort Map adds more to the parks

The new 2007 Resort Map has been unveiled to the holiday-booking public, spread across a double page in the new 15th Anniversary Official Brochure. And, after no additions in 2006, the 2007 version has suddenly seen both parks fill up with illustrations of their most popular attractions… including Crush’s Coaster and Cars Race Rally!

The desert before the Cars & Crush takes shelter

From Toon Studio this weekend…
As the first real signs of an ochreous desert landscape arrive before the Cars themselves, Crush gets some extra shelter for his outdoor queue line.
