The time finally arrived after months of waiting! Overnight, Yensid took a break from his sorcery in Fantasia, leaving his magical, spellbound hat behind… The perfect moment for Mickey Mouse to step into his shoes and put the final sparkling touches of magic to the Toon Studio project at Walt Disney Studios Park! This morning, 26th May 2007, guests were given their very first look at the brand new entrance marquee.

Part 1. The Photos Magiques team reports “live” from Walt Disney Studios Park that Cars Quatre Roues Rallye has been open for guests this morning, giving everyone at the park a chance to ride the first and only attraction based on Pixar’s hit 2006 film - less than 12 months after it originally premiered! So, there seems no better time for us to continue our Toon Studio photo tour and step into the world of Radiator Springs…

Continuing our stroll around the new Toon Studio area, we now head over to Crush’s Coaster for a closer look at the sand, rocks and all-important shells of this seaside oasis in our own Walt Disney Studios. After months of following construction from Flying Carpets and that fondly-remembered tarpaulin gate next to Art of Disney Animation, Crush is ready to make a splash…

Today is the day! For the first time perhaps since 1994’s Storybook Land at Disneyland Park, guests have a brand new themed area to explore… The skies over Marne-la-Vallée may be cloudy and overcast, but the sun is shining on Walt Disney Studios Park as the Toon Studio area finally opened to the public - today! The best part? One half of our partner site Photos Magiques was there to capture it all!

The Toons are almost ready to go public! What do you need before a premiere? A test screening! This weekend, an opening in the blue construction fences of Toon Studio appeared and more than 2,000 invited guests got the chance to sample its two new attractions and unique themeing. Not only that, but some new Cast Member costumes and the first appearance of the land’s brand new logo!

They flew! And just in time, too. With little more than three weeks to go until the official opening of Toon Studio, the golden figures of Peter Pan, Wendy and Tinkerbell have finally soared across the Atlantic to Paris, and have taken up residence around the Sorcerer’s Hat of Art of Disney Animation. It’s a new home for the retired Happiest Celebration decorations and another important touch of character for the new studio.

Soon, Route 66 from Chicago to LA won’t be the only place to get your kicks. Turning its attentions away from Crush’s Coaster, the official 15th Anniversary Blog has released a new video featuring two short interviews with Imagineers working on Cars Race Rally, also featuring a look at a never-before-seen maquette for the much-discussed Radiator Springs queue buildings.

Animation Courtyard has followed the production of an animated film throughought its drawn-out placemaking project - from the first tentative sketches (Monsters Inc Scream Scene) this time last year to full storyboards (concept art) in more recent months. Now, the whole project is in full production, everything coming together with Ink & Paint - which means a lot of new colour and a whole lot of lines.

The official 15th Anniversary blog has spilled an ocean of new behind-the-scenes material showing the making of Walt Disney Studio Park’s most anticipated new attraction. Since Crush proclaimed he was “hundred and fifty, and still young, dude!” in May 2003’s Finding Nemo, the unique attraction has now technically been 154 years in the making! Rock on!

As the grand opening of Walt Disney Studios’ two new attractions edges ever nearer, everything is pointing to the Toons - quite literally. Entrance signs for both attractions are now in place as their area development grows and Animagique glows in a bright shade of blue, whilst Sorcerer Mickey prepares to point his wand.

Ready to join the rush for Crush? It’s hard to believe after all these months of construction that, in less than one month, Crush’s Coaster will have already welcomed its first turtle shell passengers and Cars Race Rally will have already kicked up more than a few handfuls of desert dust. Phase 2 of the 15th has begun, and the infamous Red Carpet is back…

“Speed. Faster than fast, quicker than quick. I am Lightning!” But still - even a famous racecar like Lightning McQueen — of Disney-Pixar’s Cars fame — needs to be lifted around on a JCB from time to time, especially when he’s a life-size prop for a new theme park attraction…

Ahh, the wonders of the Disney “showbuilding”! Give an Imagineer four walls and a roof and they can truly do anything - like bring a Sydney fishing pier to Paris, for example. The drawback of a showbuilding? As many times as you ride Flying Carpets, your camera will never be capable of seeing through walls - though luckily, the press can…

After a week of fans drooling over the surpisingly lavish themeing of the otherwise quite simple Cars Race Rally, the very first tests of this new Toon Studio attraction were finally witnessed by guests - its 12 “zany” spinning cars skidding out of control in a Radiator Springs now complete with detailed storefronts, neon lights and even telegraph poles.
