Walt Disney Studios Park

Birthday wishes, Bill!

On this most special occasion, I’d like to send a shout out to someone very close to all of us who is officially celebrating their 1st birthday today. It was exactly 12 months ago to this day that the first signs of a new arrival became clear at Disney Studio 1 in Walt Disney Studios Park, and over one Summer night the day-to-day life of Front Lot was changed forever…

Pin Trading August 2006 releases

The pin releases for August 2006 have just been announced, along with a special pin event day at Walt Disney Studios Park…

Everything neat ‘n’ pretty?

The latest calendar of scheduled attraction closures has now been released through both the official website and the resort’s travel and press partners, giving a full listing of refurbishments from September 2006 right through to June 2007. With every effort being put into ensuring both parks look their absolute best in time for the 15th Anniversary year, there are no less than 29 upcoming attraction closures.

Splashing out

Construction of Crush’s Coaster in Walt Disney Studios Park has reached another milestone this weekend, as the exterior track for this indoor spinning roller coaster has now been completed.

The Toon transformation is coming…

…on August 14th 2006, at least according to La Rouquine on Disney Central Plaza forum. This is the date currently set for the start of full-on work to transform the existing Animation Courtyard area into the lavish entrance area of the new Toon Studio. Work is expected to begin with a slew of construction fences throughout the land, most noticably around Art of Disney Animation.

‘Cars Race Rally’ revs up already!

Despite currently being nothing more than a massive hole covered in plastic sheeting, the marketing campaign for the new Toon Studio attraction ‘Cars Race Rally’ has most certainly already begun, as Disneyland Resort Paris attempt to capture as much audience as possible during the movie’s cinema release.

Yellow terror, or white?

Despite not opening for almost another 18 months yet, The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror has already received its first few coats of paint. Applied on the back of the tower, down one concrete column, the paint currently being used is an off-white colour applied on top of a deeper orange/yellow base coat, a kind of primer or plaster used to prepare the bare concrete surface of the tower for painting.

Soarin’ into the future

The rumours about the popular Soarin’ attraction from the US resorts making its way to paris grow ever stronger… The final article in Peter Bell’s three-park series about the past and also probable future of Walt Disney Studios Park is now available at MiceAge.com.

Putting Mickey on the map

Back in January of this year, the Mickey’s Trailer meet ‘n’ greet location at Walt Disney Studios Park was moved from its old parking space along the Animation Courtyard expansion fence to a new spot in Production Courtyard between CinéMagique and the Walt Disney Television Studios.

Race Rally puts pedal to the metal

Whilst the construction site of Crush’s Coaster has sped ahead with a fully completed coaster track, half complete dark-ride track and huge concrete or steel frame walls on every side, the site of Cars Race Rally has remained an empty patch of dirt for many months. All that has changed in the last 24 hours, however, as member “Zurg” on Disney Central Plaza forum brings new construction photos showing the start of foundations for the ride.

Crush and Cars get logos!

Despite not officially opening until June 2007, the marketing machine is already in motion for the Toon Studio attractions! Today we’re proud to present the first official logos for Crush’s Coaster and Cars Race Rally:

Lights! Camera! Diversion!

The rumoured diversion of Disney Cinema Parade in Walt Disney Studios Park has now begun. Due to extensive construction work in Animation Courtyard as part of a large “place-making” project to spruce up the land and give it more Disney theme, detail and beauty, the parade now travels solely through Production Courtyard and Backlot.

Adding more Terror to the Tower…

…In terms of bare metal and concrete, at least! Joel’s Photo Hunt has the latest photos of the construction in progress, as the bare concrete shell begins to resemble ever more its finished form.

“Grab shell, dude!” - The latest from Toon Studios

Crush’s Coaster at Toon Studios is continuing construction at quick pace, as this latest photo shows. The photo, by “rocknroller” and posted by Grandmath on Disney Central Plaza forum, shows new metal supports rising diagonally out of the roof of the “Studio 5″ building.

Scrooge on the Disney Magic Interactive forum brings us the first photo of a new Mike statue/figure at the Monsters, Inc. photo location in Walt Disney Studios Park.
