Toon Studio: Ratatouille arrives, Press Event preparations

Image16th June 2007. This past Saturday, the morning of the Toon Studio Press Event, guests entered Walt Disney Studios Park under the shadow of cloudy skies - the Disneyland Resort Paris press event curse had struck again! Luckily, some bright new faces from Pixar’s latest were waiting to welcome, and preparations for the evening’s events added a buzz of anticipation…

Toon Studio: Opening day

ImageA whole 879 days since the project was announced in January 2005, opening day for Toon Studio arrived! Last weekend, 9th June, saw an unprecedented number of guests flood through the gates of Walt Disney Studios Park, rush through Disney Studio 1 and wait eagerly on Disney Bros Plaza for the grand opening ceremony to begin…

Toon Studio: Countdown continues every day

ImageNo, that’s not some wildly inaccurate height restriction for Crush’s Coaster you see beside this item - it’s a countdown. As eager fans and guests arrived at Disneyland Resort Paris on 9th June for the official public inauguration of Toon Studio and its two new attractions, they thought the countdown was finally over… infact, it will continue each and every day this Summer!

Toon Studio: Posters up, walls down

ImageWhilst we were taking a break at the start of June, Toon Studio continued to race ahead to the finish, finally losing all of its construction walls and gaining a brand new set of character posters. Before the grand opening events, then, let’s finish the Toon Studio story with what could be our very last, final progress report from the Toons…

Stitch Encounter for early, early 2008!

ImageSometimes, Disneyland Resort Paris force us to read into their words a little. They’re hardly very forthcoming with information. Like when they told us Stitch Encounter would open ‘Early 2008′. With Tower of Terror pencilled in for ‘January 2008′, you’d guess ‘Early 2008′ would follow a little later… well, we didn’t read into their words quite enough!

Tower of Terror key advertising visual revealed!

ImageThe latest Shareholder’s Club newsletter also holds a nice surprise for any investors waiting in anticipation for The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror in January 2008. That’s likely to be quite a few, too, since not only will this long-awaited addition provide a fantastic new attraction for fans to get excited about, but it might rekindle some of that magical “Space Mountain effect” of 1995. How best to impress investors? Maybe a first-look at the new advertising key visual?

From Disneyland to Disneyland

ImageThe esplanade hub of Disneyland Resort Paris is often criticised for being one of the least magical of all Disney resorts — between street sellers aiming laser pointers at your feet, the temporary security booths and Disney Village, it’s hard to find that Disney feeling. With the parks only getting better, the hub has finally been given a leg up with some magical improvements — which also helpfully point the way to the other Disney resort hubs around the world, should you still not be impressed!

Toon Studio: A closer look at animated touches

ImageThe new Toon Studio area and its colourful entrance gate plaza continues to be open for guests each and every day leading up to the grand inauguration on 9th June. They say you only really begin to appreciate Disneyland on your second visit, and since we only took a quick glance at the area in the last article, let’s return to the Toons to see what a second look at their animated touches brings up…

Toon Studio: Radiator Springs welcomes travellers (Part 3)

ImagePart 3. Continued from Part 2. It’s the third and final part of our tour through Walt Disney Studios‘ own Radiator Springs at the new Cars Race Rally, and finally we reach the ride itself. Only the Disney Imagineers could turn what most say is “just a tea cups ride” into something which takes three articles to take a brief tour through. Anyway, this is where the real fun begins — ready to join the spinout?

Hollywood Squares

ImageAt the Studios, preparations for the Toons’ grand opening are starting to be overshadowed by the rising square frames of its second placemaking and expansion project. The entire front of the Tower of Terror is becoming hidden from view, and guessing games continue about the identity of the façades to come… But do the fans have the right answer?

Toon Studio: Radiator Springs welcomes travellers (Part 2)

ImagePart 2. Continued from Part 1. Let’s hit the road again and head back over to Radiator Springs, the cutest little town in Carburetor County! And, as we now step inside the ‘Visitor Center’ of this faux movie set, it looks like the motor vehicle townspeople are quite keen for us to experience the warm welcome of that cute little town. Through information boards, props, and countless ‘in-jokes’, the spirit of Route 66 is all around…

No hurlin’ on the shell, dude! Just installed it!

ImageToon Studio is finally a real part of Walt Disney Studios Park, dude! First you were all like “whoa”, and we were like “whoa”, and you were like “whoa…!!!” …And now, little over one week later, the Imagineers’ final details are still springing up across the new land. Adding an important extra touch of ‘character’ to the land are both the brand new Sorcerer Mickey statue and this - a “totally awesome” addition - the real Crush’s Coaster entrance sign.

Toon Studio: The Sorcerer’s Apprentice has arrived!

ImageThe time finally arrived after months of waiting! Overnight, Yensid took a break from his sorcery in Fantasia, leaving his magical, spellbound hat behind… The perfect moment for Mickey Mouse to step into his shoes and put the final sparkling touches of magic to the Toon Studio project at Walt Disney Studios Park! This morning, 26th May 2007, guests were given their very first look at the brand new entrance marquee.

Toon Studio: Radiator Springs welcomes travellers (Part 1)

ImagePart 1. The Photos Magiques team reports “live” from Walt Disney Studios Park that Cars Quatre Roues Rallye has been open for guests this morning, giving everyone at the park a chance to ride the first and only attraction based on Pixar’s hit 2006 film - less than 12 months after it originally premiered! So, there seems no better time for us to continue our Toon Studio photo tour and step into the world of Radiator Springs…

Toon Studio: Crush makes a splash

ImageContinuing our stroll around the new Toon Studio area, we now head over to Crush’s Coaster for a closer look at the sand, rocks and all-important shells of this seaside oasis in our own Walt Disney Studios. After months of following construction from Flying Carpets and that fondly-remembered tarpaulin gate next to Art of Disney Animation, Crush is ready to make a splash…
