CinéMagique repaint moves onto second reel

ImageThe refreshing of CinéMagique at Walt Disney Studios Park has now progressed into Act Two, with construction walls moving to the second half of the waiting area as the clock counts down to the celebration continuing…

More planters, more progress for Disney Village

ImageFollowing the first article last week looking at Disney Village’s sudden change to a green and “humanised” environment, let’s get right up-to-date with all the latest on planters, paint and progress…

CinéMagique redux: repainting begins

ImageLike many a classic film, a project has just started at CinéMagique to inject a little more life back into the celebrated movie attraction. Not through Lucas-style CGI, but a simple coat of paint and new colours.

Even fairytale bridges need repairs

ImageIt might be based on a land of whimsy and wonder, but the bridge across to Sleeping Beauty Castle is no less prone to wear and tear than any other. A fact learnt only now by the resort, as they threw it into a sudden major refurbishment last week.

Village goes green with surprising changes for 2008

ImageDisney Village and plants go together in your mind like Pixar and bad films, but watch out — something truly mind-shattering has been happening to the once forever-hungover Village this year. It has — literally — turned over a new leaf.

Keelboats finally return! Critter Corral next?

ImageThey willthey won’t… they did! The River Rogue Keelboats finally reopened to the public this weekend after spending more than seven years out of service. Now that’s magic. But, as the park crosses another box on its Frontierland “to do list”, it appears they’re already hard at work on the next project for the Far West… and this one might not be a simple re-opening.

Keelboats: River Rogues live up to their name

ImageIt’s happening again. For two weeks running, the River Rogue Keelboats have not returned to the Rivers of the Far West as planned. Their announced 7th July grand re-opening came and went without a splash, and now the Coyote and Raccoon have missed the vital 14th July weekend. With the days of the Summer season melting away, is it too late again for the River Rogues?

The Good, the Bad and the Ugly at Disney Village

ImageNo no, this isn’t a double edition of Frontierland articles. We’re outside the parks now, at Disney Village, but still the word “ghosttown” is ringing in our heads… As the folks “behind the ears” continue to throw loose change at the Village with little care or thought, it’s easy to class the changes in three typically Western categories - the Good, the Bad and the downright Ugly.

Fresh paint bonanza for Frontierland

ImageYe-haa! There’s fresh paint all over at Frontierland! Whilst Disneyland Resort Paris continue to use the “More dreams, more hugs, more wow!” tagline for the 15th Anniversary, for fans this year will no doubt also be remembered for “More refurbs, more details, more wow!”. The town of Thunder Mesa, fallen almost into ruin back when Jay Rasulo was sheriff, appears to have found itself a brand new lucky nugget…

Return of the unsinkable Molly Brown!

ImageThe Queen of the River has returned! Over two years since a fatal incident caused her to be stranded in the Rivers of the Far West, the Molly Brown riverboat is now proudly sailing the waters of Frontierland every day this Summer. A proud return for an “unsinkable” legend, in the park’s 15th Anniversary year.

River Rogue Keelboats return confirmed!

ImageAlong with Crush’s Coaster and Cars Race Rally, this Summer will present a third ‘new’ attraction for fans to cross off their list of must-sees. But this one isn’t brand new, it’s an old favourite returned from the dead backwaters at the Rivers of the Far West. After being closed almost seven years, the River Rogue Keelboats are finally returning!

From Disneyland to Disneyland

ImageThe esplanade hub of Disneyland Resort Paris is often criticised for being one of the least magical of all Disney resorts — between street sellers aiming laser pointers at your feet, the temporary security booths and Disney Village, it’s hard to find that Disney feeling. With the parks only getting better, the hub has finally been given a leg up with some magical improvements — which also helpfully point the way to the other Disney resort hubs around the world, should you still not be impressed!

Boardwalk Candy Palace sweeter than ever

From sales carts around the park to the saccharated smell of strawberry jam floating magically through Discovery Arcade, Disneyland and the sweet smell of delicious candy go together like Mickey and Minnie Mouse. Nowhere more so than Main Street’s premiere confectionary boutique - Boardwalk Candy Palace, now looking sweeter than ever after a major redesign.

The Toon Effect - More colour, more character

Times are changing at Walt Disney Studios Park. Toon Studio continues to impress and Toon Town makes a bold - and unexpected - entrance. We’ve read words, seen concepts and previewed the maps - now the finished reality is in sight. With the 15th launch complete, everything is now focused on one mission - giving this 15-year old resort a real second gate.

J-1 brings frenzied final touches

(30/03/2007 - 10:00) As clouds decended and rain began to pour, the cleaners, crew and Cast Members of the resort ploughed ahead with last minute preparations for the huge press event of the following day. Final repaints, frenzied cleaning and final touches to the anniversary attractions…
