If there’s one thing Disney have always excelled at as far back as Steamboat Willie, it’s marketing and promotion. The Year of a Million Dreams “celebration” in the US seems to be entirely built around the concept - letting guests stay the night in Cinderella Castle is guaranteed press coverage. What about a world-famous footballer then, David Beckham no less, mounting a trusty steed to advertise Disney Parks?

With the DVD of Disney-Pixar’s Cars officially released today in the UK and the attraction, Cars Race Rally, due to open next year at Disneyland Resort Paris, it seems a perfect opportunity for some early race car advertising, right? Well, tow me away, but they’ve actually done just that - kachow!

Whilst official 15th Anniversary news has been fairly quiet for a few weeks, the 2007 travel brochures are still popping up and each trying in their own way to sell the most vital year in the resort’s recent history. It’s time to look at another 2007 brochure for Disneyland Resort Paris, to see how the travel companies are using the resort’s graphics, text and unprecedented new product lineup to sell the 15th Anniversary Celebration. A 15th isn’t usually a grand event, so these people need to make sure they work extra hard to convince the public it’s worth celebrating. This week, Leger Holidays takes the spotlight.

“…Like never before!”
It’s one of the key slogans for the 15th Anniversary, and it’s already in use! Not in brochures, not in our 15th Anniversary guides… but in video! A press conference for the 15th Anniversary in Paris last Thursday saw the release of a French trailer for the celebration, showcasing all the events in 1-minute with vibrant blue slides and elegant greyscale shots of guests dreaming about the magic…

At the Annual General Meeting for Shareholders earlier this year, one of the key features of Karl Holz’ plan for Disneyland Resort Paris was improved marketing and online presence. A still was shown for a new disneylandparis.com website concept, but no actual changes whatsoever were seen in the months that followed… until now.

The first travel company brochures for bookings from April 2007 are now available, putting the 15th Anniversary Celebration in the spotlight as the travel companies attempt to help Disneyland Resort Paris - and themselves - to have their best year for bookings yet. The visuals and logos we’ve been presenting to you for the past few months are being put into action as the resort’s make or break year edges ever closer on the horizon. So now we ask, just how good a job are they doing at Selling the Celebration?

Despite currently being nothing more than a massive hole covered in plastic sheeting, the marketing campaign for the new Toon Studio attraction ‘Cars Race Rally’ has most certainly already begun, as Disneyland Resort Paris attempt to capture as much audience as possible during the movie’s cinema release.
