Rats from the sewers of Paris have infested the new Toon Studio area of Walt Disney Studios Park. The infestation became clear during the press event to mark the opening of the new land, when… wait - these are just Pixar characters! It’s time to meet the newest members of the Disney character family, as Rémy and Emile arrive in Marne-la-Vallée.

Not on the entrance gate, not on the railroad carriages… in the street, meeting and greeting with guests! This is Alpha Bet You Are, a totally unique new creation especially for the 15th Anniversary.

(1/04/2007 - 12:45) “Attention! Le petit train des personnages arrive! The Disney Characters’ Express is coming!” With a *choo choo*, a puff of smoke and a frenzied pace, the familiar Casey Jr train rolls into view, with a gleaming new look and some very special passengers. No, the characters don’t line every street in the parks, but with Disney Characters’ Express and a host of extra meet ‘n’ greets, there’s certainly more life in Disneyland Paris than usual. And so, we continue our stroll through the park from the Castle’s character statues to some real-life Disney stars…

With the first wave of new features already underway in the parks, it was time for them to get a sneak peek at what’s still to come…

(31/03/2007 - 11:00) The official press premiere of Disney Characters’ Express starring Miley Cyrus (Hannah Montana) was met by a line of frenzied camera crews and reporters, whilst being watched over by entertainment vice president François Leroux. Amongst the rush, it was “All Aboard!” and no meet ‘n’ greets for guests…

(30/03/2007 - 16:00) Step into Disneyland Park with just one day to go before the Press Event, as we present selected video clips from the final rehearsals for Disney Characters’ Express and Disney’s Once Upon a Dream Parade, plus a glimpse at the first press film crew and some final spit and polish on Main Street just before the rainy parade.

(30/03/2007 - 10:00) As clouds decended and rain began to pour, the cleaners, crew and Cast Members of the resort ploughed ahead with last minute preparations for the huge press event of the following day. Final repaints, frenzied cleaning and final touches to the anniversary attractions…

The new morning parade performed a special twilight avant-première for invited press and travel groups, revealing the huge redesign of the old Casey Jr. float… and the mini-parade’s music. Walt Disney used to simply say “Get them out there!”. If there’s one advantage Disneyland will forever have over any other theme park, it’s the Disney characters. “They are the greatest asset we have” he said. And apparently, the people behind the 15th Anniversary Celebration agree. The life of a Disney Character performer - does it need a little livening up? You’ve probably seen the reports already of a video posted on the internet showing character performers behaving - shall we say - “irresponsibly” whilst waiting in a closed-off backstage area. Despite obviously being filmed at least over 10 months ago (due to the inclusion of a Snowman in the antics), the video only just hit the headlines yesterday. Slow news day?
