Refurbishment Roundup

The refurbishments of Disneyland will never be complete, as long as there is inclement weather left in that Parisian sky. This is a full round-up of what’s hot in the world of Disneyland’s iconic green construction fences, featuring Disneyland Hotel, the Wishing Well, Storybookland, Thunder Mesa, Front Lot and some rather depressed balloons.

The Christmas Parade 2006

Chante, C’est Noël - Tis that wonderful time of year! The Christmas Parade, Disneyland Park’s hugely popular parade overlay for the festive season, began on Monday, just one day after it finished its run as the Disney Villain Parade. Christmas returns to Main Street

Chante, c’est Noël! Not officially until Saturday, but already Main Street has begun its transformation into a festive Winter wonderland. Whilst the Enchanted Fairytale Illuminations have been in place for almost a month and Christmas has been taking centre stage in the boutiques for many weeks, the end of Disney’s Halloween festival on Sunday saw the full Christmas Season plans thrust into action - with a few changes along the way.

Balloons, boxes, bottles and banners - the past week has seen a variety of new details and decorations popping up in Disney Village and Disneyland Park. A Journey From Time To Time

Did you know you can experience Disney magic without visiting a Disney Park? I’m not talking about your local Disney Store or the Disney Studios in Burbank, I mean those places spread across the world that, for a Disney theme park fan, can be just as magical as the Magic Kingdom itself; Such as the inspiration for the original Sleeping Beauty Castle - Neuschwanstein Castle in Bavaria. Cross the border to Austria, though, and there’s a piece of history sure to hold a special place in the heart of any Disneyland Resort Paris fan - a place that can still take you for a journey through time…

When Main Street moves to Orange County

Since we’ve already taken a look at this year’s Disney Villain Parade and the new La Cavalcade de Stitch mini-parade, it’s probably about time to look at more horrors from Halloween 2006, such as the decorations. Four years ago, the Creative Entertainment department lived up to their name with the creation of the Pumpkinmen - a bizarre, unique being that would run amock across Disneyland Park during the season.

Are we still dreaming?

The 15th Anniversary becomes more unmissable by the day. After countless years of waiting for an all-new parade, something as stunning as Disney’s Once Upon a Dream Parade appears on the horizon! Of course, it doesn’t actually premiere until April 2007, but we’ve probably seen enough previews now to know this will be something quite remarkable, proved once again by two incredible new visuals released today…

Diving deeper into the lost Mermaid attraction

Following on from yesterday’s article about the exciting Imagineering bonus features on The Little Mermaid 2-Disc DVD, we’ve now got the chance to dive far deeper into this lost Euro Disney attraction. Kristof has had the chance to cap some incredible stills from the “Behind The Ride That Almost Was with Disney Imagineers” featurette, giving us a surprisingly detailed look at the attraction we thought we’d never see. If you’re trying to keep the DVD a surprise, or you’re likely to become enraged at how an attraction that looks as extraodinary as this was never built, you’d best stay on the shore…

The long-lost Undersea Adventure

Whilst we’re wrapped up in the construction of Crush’s Coaster at Walt Disney Studios, another undersea adventure is beginning… 13 years late. The Little Mermaid Under the Sea Adventure, one of Euro Disney’s fabled “lost attractions” finally gets thrust into the spotlight this Autumn, as Walt Disney Imagineering give an unprecedented look at the attraction-that-never-was on the new The Little Mermaid 2-Disc DVD.

Big Thunder’s big re-opening

It seems just days ago that Big Thunder Mountain, arguably Disneyland Park’s most popular attraction, closed for an epic refurbishment lasting almost two months. Whilst groans were heard across the magic kingdom from guests and fans, the iconic attraction breathed a sigh of relief as it finally got its first lengthy break in over five years, the results of which truly cannot go unnoticed.
