Disneyland Park

Yo ho, yo ho, anywhere-but-Paris for me!

As of 20th July 2007, Pirates of the Caribbean at Disneyland Resort Paris will become the only version of the attraction in the world to remain faithful to the 1967 original. But for how long? As even Tokyo Disneyland now succumbs to the wit and lure of Captain Jack Sparrow, will Marne-la-Vallée ever follow?

Grand farewell for the Wonderful World

The Wonderful World Of Disney Parade is no more, never to return again. The final “Catchy Rhythm” was danced in grand style on Friday, 23rd March 2007, bringing to an end a nine-year chapter in the resort’s history. But it couldn’t depart without a final flourish - oh no, not this parade…

Disney’s Once Upon a Dream is HERE!

The very first public performance of Disney’s Once Upon a Dream Parade is complete! The parade “soft-premiered” this afternoon at 16:00 in Disneyland Park under cloudy skies and rain, but reports confirm all floats were included, despite concerns about their completion. The parade will be performed in rehearsal previews all this week before officially premiering on 31st March 2007.

Character Castle Makeover - complete!

After months of planning, changes and speculation, it took just over one week to complete the Character Castle Overlay of Le Château de la Belle au Bois Dormant for the 15th Anniversary! All fifteen groups of characters and the giant “15″ centrepiece window are now in place, with a scattering of LED lights throughout.

St Patrick’s Day 2007 programme

After a hugely successful launch in 2006, Disneyland Resort Paris will once again celebrate everything Irish for St Patrick’s Day 2007. This Saturday 17th March will see a “grand” celebration with Irish music, dancing, fireworks and unique character costumes at Disneyland Park, and the full programme can be seen here…

Castle characters scale the first spires!

Over eight months ago, we first saw visuals that suggested an extra-special centrepiece for the 15th Anniversary. Now, the Character Castle Makeover has begun! Le Château de la Belle au Bois Dormant has been scaled by no less than eight brand new, golden character statues in just two days, though it appears there was a bit of a scuffle on the way up…

15th Fever: Merchandise explosion

The 15th Anniversary fever isn’t just a marketing creation, the buzz can truly be felt right through the entire resort as more and more gold-and-blue signs of the big 15 appear day after day. Step into almost any of the resort’s boutiques right now, and you’ll be hit with perhaps the biggest anniversary merchandise line ever created. Get your AP ready, you’ll be needing that discount…

15th Fever: On TV

The red carpet has been rolled out! The party is now, the celebration is officially underway! Since July last year we’ve been following every detail of the 15th Anniversary, and now it’s everywhere, for all to see, and is causing quite a stir! In a series of articles looking at the launch of the resort’s most ambitious advertising campaign ever, we begin with 15th Anniversary fever on your own TV…

(Re-) Making an entrance

In show business, first impressions are everything. But, after five years of wear of tear, the searchlight-patterned asphalt path leading to the Studios wasn’t quite the gleaming star it once was, and so last month the entire stretch was cordoned off and ripped up for replacement. Not to be outdone, Disneyland Park is also busy re-making its own entrance area ready for the big 15…

More ‘Once Upon a Dream’ making-of

Another day brings another peek into the backstage preparations for the anniversary, and another fascinating look at the wonders of Disney’s Once Upon a Dream Parade! This time from a promotion spot on the German Disney Channel, the “making-of” featurette features similar images to a spot seen early last month, though now with a glimpse into the artist workshops designing the epic new spectacle. Expect concepts, maquettes and even more anticipation…

Disney Characters jump aboard the celebration

Walt Disney used to simply say “Get them out there!”. If there’s one advantage Disneyland will forever have over any other theme park, it’s the Disney characters. “They are the greatest asset we have” he said. And apparently, the people behind the 15th Anniversary Celebration agree. We’ve been promised “more Disney characters than ever before” for many months now, but this is Disney - nothing is ever that ordinary…

Once Upon a Dream Parade in concepts

With 35 days, 17 hours and 7 minutes until the first official performance of Disney’s Once Upon a Dream Parade, there are still plenty of secrets and unknowns about this long-awaited new parade. Whilst we’ve seen costumes, peeked at construction and heard some of the music recently, seven of the eight floats have remained blurry silhouettes from a casting advertisement… until now!

Candles, characters, decorations… and letters?

More lovely concept art from the AGM, again courtesy of DCP’s Mouetto, this time focusing both on the stage, candles and characters of Candlabration (Bougillumination) and on the banners due to line Main Street using the Christmas fairytale illuminations. Plus, there’s a new group of ten characters who need to be seen to be believed!

Buzz Lightyear makes the final 15

After the anniversary TV spot and new parade theme song, news from Wednesday’s Euro Disney SCA Annual General Meeting continues to pour in, shared once again by member Mouetto on Disney Central Plaza forum. Amongst the concept art for upcoming 15th Anniversary events and decorations presented at the meeting, it appears the Character Castle Makeover has just received an extra hero from Disney history, courtesy of Pixar…

Just Like You Dreamed It?

The Euro Disney SCA Annual General Meeting for shareholders isn’t just about financial statistics and uncomfortable questions, oh no - they always manage to put on a good Disney show! In 2004 we had a musical Lion King preview, an outer-space preview for 2005 and a Buzz Lightyear extravaganza for 2006. How could they top all that for 2007, the 15th Anniversary year, then? Will a costume preview and a play of the new song “Just Like We Dreamed It” do?
