As usual, we’ll be picking out the most interesting topics from recent days, things you should read, discussions you might want to get involved in, and plenty of news from the worlds of Disney that DLRP Today doesn’t cover. But, let’s start closer to home…
Disneyland Resort Paris
How old are you? How many children do you have? Do you get funny looks? Aveen2008 has touched on a popular issue talking about People who visit Disneyland with children, and how they feel others see them. We should indeed probably be doing things like talking about the credit crunch, our important jobs and the winners of Wimbledon, but why should we when blummin’ Disneyland is only a few hours away?!
Argh!! Argh!! That’s the panic of a hundred magicforum fans as a topic with the disastrous title Maintenance on strike pops up courtesy of our admin and appointed ‘Disney god’ raptor1982. Two pages in, and we’re still no closer to finding out what the real deal is and whether everything is back to normal yet. Follow this one closely…
When do you feel magical? We’d like it if you said “why, when I’m browsing DLRP Today, of course!”, though we would never put words into your mouth like that. Charliegal wants to hear what it takes to get you in that special Disney mood. A little music on your iPod? Stepping on-board Eurostar? Seeing Tower of Terror rising above the Marne-la-Vallée landscape in the distance? Share it!
Just last night, The Enchanted Fireworks premiered at Disneyland Park and magicforum became home to the very first video from Flounder. Check it out, and the photos, and tell us all what you think. An improvement on Wishes?
Is the circle of life about to be cut short? ICHAPMAN posts The end of “The Legend Of The Lion King”? as new rumours surface that the expensive Videopolis show could become a high season-only event in the near future, rather than a year-round show. Or even end for good. No confirmation yet, though with only 400 able to see the show in the theatre area each performance, it does again raise the issue of spending so much on a show that can only be seen by so few.
Finally, join the rejoicing in our Disney Studio 1 billboard topic — it’s GONE!

World of Disney
The latest from California, Florida, Tokyo and Hong Kong:
Name one event that barely gets a look-in at Disneyland Resort Paris but is a huge deal for the US resorts… You got it, 4th July — Independance Day. AmericanMouse shares a video of the New 4th July fireworks show at Disneyland and Walt Disney World.
They’ve been jealous ever since 1992, and now finally the Oriental Land Company, owners of Tokyo Disney Resort, have taken the plunge and tried to well and truly 1-up the Paris park and its hotel entrance. Now, we can even see inside the new Tokyo Disneyland Hotel. Be sure to check the link from penfold12 for some great photos.
Whilst Walt Disney World fans mourn the loss of their favourite Pleasure Island nighttime entertainment district, they do have one thing to look forward too — The American Idol Experience. Sarcasm? Surely not. It’s a hard time for a Walt Disney World fan though, especially when their new Toy Story Midway Mania has so obviously been trumped in themeing terms by the superior Victorian-styled version at Disney’s California Adventure. Photos here.
Bravely opening “it’s a small world” as a Phase 2 attraction, could Hong Kong Disneyland now be looking further into the future? Construction work in Adventureland, as Owain reports, brings a new bridge underneath the railroad tracks. Frontierland or Tortuga? Either way, their construction fences are top-notch, even if they haven’t got any (or many) of the attractions we visit Disneyland for.
CinéMagique
Disney on the silver screen and in your home:
Pixar has done it again. What more can we say? WALL-E scores unanimously positive reviews, even likening it to the work of Chaplin, and just as impressive box office numbers. Read all the news and see preview clips here.
Meanwhile, The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian hasn’t had quite such an easy ride, but what do you think? Post your thoughts and reviews on the second chapter of the film series here.
Looking further ahead to this Winter (or 2009 for us Europeans), and we’ll all be awaiting the arrival of Bolt, a dog who thinks his superhero TV persona is really him. It’s like Buzz Lightyear: The Movie, but with a dog. And a very funny ensemble cast of weird animals. You can still see the Chris Sanders beginnings in this brand new trailer.
