magicforum mélange 30.03.2008

It’s the end of March and things are a little quiet… well, certainly much quieter than this time last year, when the 15th Anniversary was just about to launch. Time for a just quick, minimalist round-up of the latest magicforum happenings, then…

Disneyland Resort Paris

This quiet spell won’t last for long, however. Once April hits, things will go full speed ahead — or maybe faster-than-gravity would be more appropriate — as The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror is launched after its weeks and months of public previews. RnRCj is the latest to share his experiences from a recent drop into the attraction, including a few bellhop photos.

The opening of this major E-Ticket might remind you of the opening of Space Mountain. Of course, things were even more hectic back then — the resort was in the midst of a name-change from Euro Disney to Disneyland Paris. This week, a.newton is talking Disney Name Changes, and we’ve compiled a list covering the entire resort.

Meanwhile, Alpop is firmly in the present and worried about Cutting Corners. If there’s a temporary sign up in the parks, shouldn’t they still try to fix it in place with something a little more magical than a bare nail? Also concerned about upkeep is seanmartina, who spotted that some of the candle-holding 15th Anniversary characters are beginning to look a little more silver than gold. Got photos or seen this for yourself? Please share!

World of Disney

The “it’s a small world” debarcle continues… At Hong Kong Disneyland, the park has launched a new website for the attraction and new photos show many of the new show scenes with their Disney character inhabitants. In California, however, the LA Times has picked up on the makeover project and a new SaveItsASmallWorld.com website has started up… are you in support?

California Adventure’s much-celebrated Pixar Play Parade was dealt a fatal blow in recent weeks when a swing from the ‘A Bug’s Life’ float fell off whilst the parade was in motion. TowMater and others share the latest information about the parade’s disrupted run.

Two years on from the first exposé of Animal Kingdom’s mythical Beastlie Kingdomme project, raptor1982 shares fresh news that the concept might be about to be reborn as a more character-focused land in an attempt to up the Disney character quota in the relatively brand-free animal park.

Fun & Fancy Free

It seems like us Disney fans are also more than a little fond of our TV. Desperate Housewives, The Apprentice, Doctor Who… what are your unmissable telly programmes? Owain starts a new concept - the TV topic.

In the Poll Land this week, raptor1982 asks a difficult question — ‘Theater District or a whole new zone?‘. If Walt Disney Studios was about to expand, would you prefer a brand new land or the completion of the Hollywood placemaking? It’s a bit like asking people whether they love marmite — which is exactly what The Butlin Boy did this week. The opinions are definitely going to be split.
