‘Spooktacular’ Halloween for the 15th Anniversary

ImageA new press release has just been published confirming the main events for the 2007 Disney’s Halloween Festival. As expected, it’s a Halloween with a twist - the Pumpkinmen, Pink Witches, Stitch and the Disney Villains all return, but they’re going to be vying for attention against the regular 15th events, apparently continuing as normal. So no Maleficent dancing to “Tous en train!” then, sorry.

More gaps filled at Walt Disney Studios

ImageMissing items at Walt Disney Studios Park are being corrected at an exciting pace this year. Need an attraction with a morning “crush” to rival Big Thunder Mountain? Check. Need a ride for kids as popular as those in Fantasyland? Check. Need a big E-Ticket to get the crowds pouring? Almost-check. But what about a higher class restaurant, and a boutique in Toon Studio? They’ve begun filling those gaps too…

Third Quarter results: To infinity and beyond?

Image“Hot Dog!, Mickey must be exclaiming. The financial results for the Third Quarter 2007 are good, aren’t they? No - they’re really good. For a resort which last year published a revenue increase of 4.5% to now be on track for an 11% increase in 2007 is something of a dream for Euro Disney SCA. So, what’s going on? And what could this boost in business mean for the future of Disneyland Resort Paris?

Third Quarter results: Revenues up 12%, Attendance 9%

ImageThe good news — and perhaps more importantly, the money — continues to roll in for Euro Disney S.C.A., the operating company of Disneyland Resort Paris, who publish their Third Quarter results today, 26th July 2007. Third Quarter results show a 12% “surge” in sales across the group year-on-year, year-to-date revenues up 11% and impressive attendance increase of 9% for the quarter.

Letters in place for Hollywood Tower… upside-down

ImageA major update from Tower of Terror : Over recent days, the famous letters of “The Hollywood Tower Hotel” signage have been arriving on the facade of the future attraction section-by-section, ready to finally christen the Tower as it reaches its five month countdown. However, The Twilight Zone has its tricks - the letters may be in place, but they’re all upside-down…

Keelboats finally return! Critter Corral next?

ImageThey willthey won’t… they did! The River Rogue Keelboats finally reopened to the public this weekend after spending more than seven years out of service. Now that’s magic. But, as the park crosses another box on its Frontierland “to do list”, it appears they’re already hard at work on the next project for the Far West… and this one might not be a simple re-opening.

New landmarks, new details on Hollywood Blvd

ImageOur previous Hollywood Boulevard update covering its new tower and dome skipped over the milestone of three new steel frame structures — for the two skyscrapers and tunnel — going vertical on the Studios’ new central street. But this development is still progressing fast and, whilst new landmarks have risen, the smallest of Hollywood details elsewhere have already begun the real theming…

Toon Train brings “Lights, Camera, Musique!” to Front Lot

ImageIn pictures and video. If you’re a regular reader of our partner websites WDSfans.com or magicforum, you’ll have known all about the “Toon Train” - a new piece of streetmosphere for the Studios. But not Toon Studio, mind. This new Summer event might be more Toon-y than Toon Town itself, but infact it’s Front Lot which receives the extra “lights”, “camera” and “musique” from Chip, Dale and their female friend…

Bastille Day goes with a bang, without blunder

ImageIn pictures and video. If there’s one thing Disneyland can do well (when they’ve permission, at least), it’s big fireworks. Unfortunately, guests at the Bastille Day events of 2006 might not have been too sure, watching in confusion as none of the large shells burst into the sky as they should have done. For this 15th Anniversary year, though, luck hasn’t strayed from the side of the resort for one moment…

Spotting the details of a Twilight Zone redux

ImageSo the next big new attraction at Walt Disney Studios Park will just be a straight clone of the Californian version, will it? No, not quite… This third edition of The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror has arrived in Paris via Tokyo DisneySea no less, and it looks as if a little of that Japanese park’s infamous eye for detail has already rubbed off on the façade of our future Hollywood Tower Hotel…

Keelboats: River Rogues live up to their name

ImageIt’s happening again. For two weeks running, the River Rogue Keelboats have not returned to the Rivers of the Far West as planned. Their announced 7th July grand re-opening came and went without a splash, and now the Coyote and Raccoon have missed the vital 14th July weekend. With the days of the Summer season melting away, is it too late again for the River Rogues?

Tower = Castle for 2008 calendar

ImageMerchandise for the 2008 season has begun appearing across the resort. Now, it’s a question almost everyone has asked - will The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror become the ‘Sleeping Beauty Castle‘ of Walt Disney Studios Park? Already, six months before the opening, it looks like we might have an answer. And, if the new 2008 Calendar is to be trusted, that answer is yes

The Rooftops of Hollywood, coo what a sight!

ImageThere’s no Mary Poppins connection, but these rooftops certainly are a sight. From plain steel frames surrounding The Hollywood Tower Hotel, two buildings on the future Hollywood Boulevard have suddenly leaped ahead with their own themed rooftops already in place. Apparently, the realism of these “movie sets” even stretches to a speedy construction!

Lightning strikes, Tower bolts ahead

ImageOur updates for The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror seem to have been lost in that infamous 5th Dimension lately. So, from now on, we solemnly promise to report every lick of paint, every terracotta roof tile and every piece of cracked brickwork added to the Tower. Well, almost. After all, it’s not every year we have a $160million, 183-ft tall E-Ticket opening at Walt Disney Studios, is it?
