I stayed here on a FAM trip with work (I’m a travel agent) and what can I say! The hotel was beautiful, with seperated sections for the kiddies, and a dedicated Disney shop in the lounge near reception.
Classy and subtle theming, extensive breakfast selection and really spacious and comfortable rooms. It had a fantastic shuttle system, buses were rarely crowded when we had to ride them and I think it was a real enhancement to my Disney experience.
Top marks!
We stayed here (the Magic Circus) for 10 days from the 28th March 2009 for the launch of Mickey’s Magical Party and for mine and my partners’ 21st birthdays (mine was 09/03 his was 09/04). But booked it when it was still Holiday Inn so we got a FANTASTIC deal! Paying only £25.00 per night!
I had booked it as a 2 night and a 7 night stay as Expedia wouldn’t allow us to book 9 nights consecutively, on arrival it turned out that our 2 night stay was in an upgraded room, so they called the manager who let us have the room for the hole 10 days!! :)
The room was very clean with a double bed and one single bed, two TVs, coffee and tea making facilities The bathroom was again spacious and clean, plenty of towels were provided as well as hand wash and shower gel that smelt like barley sugar sweets!
The only downsides to this hotel were that the ice machine on our floor was broken, and that internet access was too expensive!! Rooms were cleaned on a regular basis with towels etc being replaced.
The shuttle bus to the parks provided a frequent service and was easy to use. On sunny days we enjoyed a nice walk to the parks and Disney Village, nice as sometime the shuttles can get a little cramped.
We didn’t eat at the hotel as we prefer the Disney restaurants, maybe to some they are more expensive, but you always get great service and tasty food and that Disney atmosphere that you just can’t beat. We did have a few drink at the bar (mainly cocktails) We found it a little expensive but we don’t mind paying a little more when we are on holiday. We also enjoyed a few games of snooker by the bar.
The hotel pool was just opening for the season, the changing rooms and the pool were clean, and we enjoyed many relaxing swims here overlooking the neighboring hotels.
The hotel staff were very pleasant. They welcomed us on the first day, were always available to help and offer assistance. On one occasion we had left the hotel in a rush to go to Paris for the day and left our room keys in the room, on our return they were very quick to issue us with a replacement.
Overall we very much enjoyed our stay here, we normally stay onsite but this hotel has defiantly convinced us to try out the neighboring Vienna Dream Castle. I just hope we are as pleased with it was we were the Magic Circus. I would highly recommend this hotel.
Tips:
Read up on the hotel first -
Some reviews I have read say that “the coffee and tea wasn’t replenished during our stay.” It states on the websites and in the Hotel Information Guide that replacement tea and coffee is at a charge, I would recommend either taking some from home or stopping off at either the Esso garage outside Santa Fe or the train station at the resort transport hub to buy a cheaper alternative.
Check Refurb and Closure dates -
DLRPtoday/magic and the official Disneyland Paris website can provide you with these dates as well as opening times for both parks. That way you can avoid refurbs and won’t be disappointed that the hotel’s pool or restaurant isn’t open.
Allow 45 mins for your journey to Charles De Gaulle airport -
If you are traveling to CDG from Disneyland Paris you must allow at least 45 minutes for travel as your hotel is NOT the only hotel it picks up from and your terminal will not be the only drop off point, this way you won’t miss your flight!
Book an early breakfast time -
This goes for all Disneyland and selected hotels! 7am to 7.30am tends to the best time to go, as families tend to go between 8am and 10 am and it gets more than a little busy!
The Hypermarket at Val d’Europe -
Take the RER train zone A. 1 stop to Val d’Europe, it costs about 1 euro 50 cents per person and here is an Outlet shopping mall, Sealife centre, some great and cheap restaurants and a hypermarket, if you don’t like the prices of the beer at the bar or lunches in the resort this is the best place you can go, we bought a multipack of crisps, chocolate, beer, squash (I’m not a huge lover of fizzy drinks and from our numerous trips to DLP I am well aware that people like me are not very well catered for unless you want to pay 5 Euros for juices), all of which we took back to the hotel room for snacks and lunches. From here you can also buy fresh milk.
We booked this hotel through the previous owners Holiday Inn website as a special trip for our disabled daughter.
This hotel has to be the worst hotel we have ever stayed at and personally I would not even award it one star let alone four. The bar and restaurant were closed for refurbishment with the only bar being available being the standard one would find in a village hall for a cheap birthday party, a couple of opened bottles of wine half a dozen spirits and one barrell of lager.
The food being served in the makeshift restraurant was totally un-edible, the staff at the reservation desk didn’t have a clue on how to deal with quests on the basic requests let alone complaints.
There were what can only be described as discarded womens under garments lying on the floor on one of the lifts all day and evening.
We were refused a place on the shuttle service bus to the parks and the hotel reception staff insisted that we would have to pay extra for our disabled daughter to travel on the specially adapted transport.
The room wasn’t cleaned during our three day stay and the coffee and tea wasn’t replenished during our stay. We don’t see this as the fault of the Disney company apart from them not allowing our daughter on the transport to the park but the fault of the hotel company and staff.
We could not recommend this hotel or any of the Vienna International Hotel Groups hotels to anyone.
We checked into the hotel. this is where our problems began. we had booked and paid for the room online, and brought our confirmation papers with us (LUCKILY). First we were told that there wasnt a reservation under our name. Then we were told we owed some $400 for our stay.
After about ten minutes, we established that the room was already paid for, but they didnt have a room for us. We did end up in a small room that was pretty clean with all the basics. The TV didnt work, and two days after reporting this to the front desk, someone came to fix it. The pool and gym were closed, which was disappointing.
Everything went fine to the rest of our stay, until our last night. We asked the front desk what they best way to get to the airport was, and she told us that taking the bus would be much quicker and cheaper than the RER (train). She told us which one to take, what time it would arrive and when we could expect to be at Charles DeGaulle airport. So helpful… not!
The next morning we got on the bus at the time she had told us. We paid TWICE as much for the ticket to the airport and we didn’t make our flight. I didn’t realize it was possible to turn a 30-minute trip into almost a 2 hour trip. We missed our plane and had to spend our last night in paris in the Charles DeGaulle airport.
I stayed at Holiday Inn for my first visit. I cannot fault the hotel, it was clean and staff were lovely. However, when you add the cost of park tickets to the hotel price, it’s almost the same as staying in either Santa Fe or Cheyenne Disney hotel which includes tickets for every day of your stay, is walking distance to the park (a nice stroll after breakfast) and has characters at breakfast time in the hotel. Now I wouldn’t go anywhere else other than a Disney hotel, as you really feel the Disney magic the second you arrive.
Very much cheaper than a Disney hotel, but you wouldn’t notice it on the inside. The shuttle bus to the park is very quick although crowded, and this hotel has a nice friendly atmosphere about it. Food is poor but, if all you want is a relatively cheap (compared to Disney Hotels) base to plan your trips to the parks then this is for you.
Comfortable rooms (extremely cosy beds), clean facilties throughout and very pleasant staff – a great base for the Disney experience if your choice is to spend most of your time at the parks. The food is perhaps its weakest point and certainly not four stars but then we ate out most of the time as we chose to maximise time at the parks instead. Stayed twice now and recommended to friends.
A free shuttle bus (crowded at peak times) ferries you to and from the resort and does service adjacent hotels but at half the price to the main hotels this is a good option for those working on a budget.
Myself and my family stayed here for a week. Very nice and spacious hotel – lots of play areas for the kids.
What really let it down were two points:-
1. The food was terrible. For a four star hotel, the bar served microwave food and old sandwiches kept in a fridge. The bar staff didn’t seem to know their ‘you know what from their elbow’. The restaurant wasn’t much better. The buffet breakfast was more like an England rugby scrum with people struggling for tables and then just eating off of trays. We daren’t try the lunch or dinner but looking from the outside, it looked much the same.
2. The second point was the free shuttle to Disney. Yes, this is not the hotels fault but it still put us off. The shuttle bus drivers do not care how many people get on, if there were steps on the roof, I am sure people would be on there too. People were being squashed to get on. Yes, it was free but personally I would rather pay a couple of euros and have someone control the queue and how many people get on it.
Nice hotel but but not a four star, just on the food alone.
