(Christmas 2008) It was coming to the end of my annual trip to DLRP and my girlfriend Gemma’s first ever trip – so I decided to take her out for a nice meal. I’ve eaten in Planet Hollywood before and know the food is good but I thought I’d try Cafe Mickey – it seemed like the perfect Disney end to a perfect Disney holiday!

We arrived at about 7ish without making a reservation, wondering if we’ll get a table. Can’t be that many people wanting a table for two in this family fun-zone… They found us a table, not to near the screaming kids – and Mickey was there to greet us! The Main Mouse not only escorted us to our table, but pulled out our chairs, gave us our menu and even made a recommendation!! Talk about service! Photos and autographs… obviously…

We decided to go for the Set Menu – 3 courses for 30 Euros.

We both had the starter of roasted garlic mushrooms on a hotplate with a WHOLE BULB OF GARLIC!! The starters came out quickly and was very nicely presented.

For Main, Gemma had the Pluto Steak (Mickey’s suggestion!!) in a challot sauce. Which came out a little rarer than she’d like but loved the sauce. I had the Pinocchio Pasta which was loaded with veggies, shitake mushrooms and chicken in a creamy garlic sauce – awesome!

For dessert we both had the Snow White Apple Tart (which I think is slightly bad taste considering…) with Butterscotch Ice Cream – it was just to die for! We were waiting a bit for our desserts and second round of drinks but with the plethora (I love that word) of characters working the room you didn’t worry to much!

Big cudos to the Sheriff of Nottingham he had the best schtick – huge belly, huge backside etc…

Overall with tips about 40 Euros a head which isn’t bad considering all the free entertainment.

    No No No!!!

Why are people complaining about Cafe Mickey? I don’t know if we just got lucky during our visit or what, but we made our reservations that evening before the Fantallusion parade, for 9pm.

Well, we were seated within five minutes (if that), and were seated on a nice table for two by the aisle where the characters come through. We saw Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, Baloo, Stitch, Eeyore and Happy (the seven dwarfs) and I can honestly say they spent at least a good five minutes on each table. They even went out of their way to entertain you, by tickling you, feeding you (Goofy I shall never forgive you for that!), taking you off to the waitress (I was wearing a dress with a French slogan and Happy wanted to show the waitess!) and just all round general interaction. I even witnessed Stitch throwing food around on one table! Hilarious!

Our waiter was friendly, always smiling and couldn’t do enough for you. He was quick with the food and drinks, and my food (Princess Aurora’s Choice) was absolutely divine. I think the photos you get with character dining are far more natural and relaxed than those taken in the parks, therefore well worth the money. Our dessert (Mary Poppins) was a lovely end to a meal and I also witnessed the characters dancing round a few times like lunatics for birthday celebrations!

Please please please don’t listen to the negative reviews. This is an awesome place to eat, the atmosphere is brilliant and the food is beyond satisfactory. I promise you will not be disappointed.

When we first ate here we had our little girl of 2 years (6 years ago now!) & being a little naivie we didn’t know about the characters, we were in for a shock as we have never eaten a meal so quickly before as our daughter back then found them to be to big! 6 years on & my now 8 year old daughter & 3 year old son always want to go here to eat everytime we visit because they want to meet the characters. This place is brightly lit, has good staff, there is ALWAYS a que to get in, we always book 3 months before coming to ensure our seat & what an eating experience it is! I would say nearly A la Carte with a twist & without the meal plans may work out quite expensive but definatlye worth the visit. Expect eating to take about 90 minutes due to the shear volume of characters visiting your table for photos & autographs. My only citisim is that space can be a little tight but bearing in mind the popularity I suppose certain sacrifices have to be made, but this shouldnt stop you eating here. 10 out of 10 & am looking forward to eating again in december 2009.

We ate here twice over our stay and were very happy with the service. The set menu for 30 euros is quite good value and the food was tasty. We were on an “all meals included package” we used the cash value of our vouchers against the bill and paid any extra.

The children (2 & 3) loved seeing the characters, hugging them, getting them to sign our autograph book and having photos taken, this is a really great place to meet the characters as you have much more time with them. Although you are taking a gamble as to who will be there.

We saw, Mickey, Pinnochio, Stitch, Pluto, Goofy, Gepetto, Baloo and Minnie over the two evenings.

I would definitely reserve a table, there was quite a queue by 7pm but with reservations we were seated immediately.

I have eaten here 5 times in 4 yeas and it’s always got a fantastic atmosphere. The waiters are good, poor things trying to do their job and not bump into characters. If you sit upstairs it is very different. It’s quieter cooler but a lot less characters come to see you which is a shame as you’re probably there for the characters but it is less hectic.

Have had some great chaacter interactions at Cafe Mickeys, even though there were no children at our table.

Breakfast there is excellent too. Lots to choose from and if you are in a budget hotel a calm environment in which to eat.

We had half board plus vouchers, but because they are worth 26 euro each, we decided to use them for this cash value on the last night. The Mickey Menu at 30 euros is quite good value in this way.

The main appeal here is the characters – we saw eight different characters during our evening meal and the interaction was hilarious! We were so happy that Stitch was there as he is one of our favourites, so funny! And of course, the main mouse himself…

The food was hit and miss I suppose,I enjoyed the Caesar salad to start and the creme brulee was AMAZING, but the “genie pasta” was very bland and disappointing. My sister enjoyed her fish and chips and ice cream sundae, but thought the soup was too thick. Portion sizes are excellent though.

One thing that slightly annoyed us was the waiters eyeing us up and then inviting us to go out drinking with them in Paris! This really took us by surprise as this isnt the kind of thing you expect in Disneyland. To be fair, they werent pushy or sleazy and when we said no they left us alone, but we didnt think it was all that appropriate.

Other than that Cafe Mickey was a great experience, the character meals cannot be beaten for laughs and memories!

Well, when I went here I didn’t like the menu but I was a kid and now my opinion can be drastically different. The theming is fantastic, it involves you in a Disney atmosphere. I love the Village theming and it’s a part of it, with the lights and a curious elegance.

Eating with the characters is always funny.

We had a great meal here, and we were very pleased with the character interaction. It wasn’t rushed at all. The staff wasn’t very good at directing us to the dessert buffet, but we found it on our own. We’ll definitely return.

The atmosphere here is always great, every time you eat here it’s a true party! The food however isn’t always that great..

My sister and I ate here on numerous occasions, but sometimes the food is hot and real tasty, and sadly..sometimes the food tasted like crap…Some plates are also a bit too pricey..

This is a must-visit restaurant whenever we go to DLP! We love the character interaction. We once arrived just as the lunch service started and DD was asleep in her pushchair. Minnie and Mickey were there just as she woke up to give her a cuddle and her face was a picture!

The food is good and we liked the choice too. You can either opt for the set menu or choose individual dishes which range from salads to pizza to steak to fish and chips and more! We’ll be back again in May!

We decided on Cafe Mickey mainly for the fact that you could have the character lunch. It didn’t disappoint! We booked our table for 1.30pm, reading other reviews we knew service could be slow at peak times and this is why booked for a little later.

The restaurant staff advised us that we would only have an hour with the characters but that was just right for us. The restaurant was quite quiet by the time we ordered which meant we had the full attention of all 8 characters. We had lots of photo opportunities and the characters were great with the children and adults.

The food was good but not excellent, though to be honest we weren’t there for the food. The pizzas were huge (enough for two) and the set menu for 30 euros was good value considering the current exchange rate.

Would I go there again, definitely. Would I recommend to my friends, absolutely. Just try to go when its a little quieter for a more pleasant experience.

I went here with my 2 children and my mother for diner. What can I say ………. Im not sure who enjoyed it most the adults or the children!!! We prebooked our table so there was no waiting the characters where fantastic ensuring the children(and adults) got to spend time with each one.

The food was delicious and the staff couldnt do enough to help even when my daughter took as nose bleed in the middle of dinner!!! My daughter got to dance with mickey and my son bounced with Tigger. A magical evening for children and grown ups alike.

I absolutely loved this experience. Our group went for the character breakfast which consisted of an American style buffet breakfast and you had the option of a hot or cold breakfast or both. During your breakfast numerous characters came round the tables and there was the opportunity to have a photo taken or get an autograph. Well worth going to.

Mad about Disney 20th October 2008

Myself, husband and children were really looking forward to a meal with the characters at Cafe Mickey, but were very disappointed. The service was terrible- our table was pre-booked yet we were 1/2 hour late being seated. We were seated in the terraced with very few characters coming our way. The service and food was absolutely terrible.

Our waitress was unenthusiastic, our meals came quite a while after we originally oder, but they came before our drinks, the food, which we picked from the set meal was a Chicken Caesar salad though it didn’t come with chicken because it was off the set menu and Pluto’s Steak was not only cold but tough being that it was a piece of old braising meat! Very disappointing!

I love Disney, but this restaurant is expensive for cheap food and the service is not all that it’s cracked up to be. The characters were the main reason for us picking the restaurant, but being seating in the terrace very few came our way and when they did we were crowded by loads of other kids- don’t bother, save money eat somewhere else and see the characters in the park at meet’n'greets.

We went here for lunch as it was recommended by a friend and wanted the kids to have a bit of character interaction without all the pushing a shoving in the parks. Thought the food okay but expensive for what it was, especially the children’s menu and ended up sharing my fish with my oldest who had chosen pizza, which while cute in the shape of Mickey was a little on the small size.

Our waitress started off being friendly but by the end of the meal was rather off. When the childrens desserts weren’t forthcoming I asked for them, she disappeared without asking what they would like and some other women dressed in a suit put two tubs of ice cream on the table and left without saying a word! Maybe this was all that was left!!

The characters were great and we saw four initially before our meal arrived who each came to the table. A little later four different ones appeared (and we waited patiently for them to visit our table) however having been round about half the tables they left. When I asked the waitress if they would be returning she just shrugged and said no that was it for the lunch period. I found it rather unfair that they visit some and leave others out and of course the children were extremely disappointed.

Consequently, although the children had enjoyed meeting the characters that did come round, the mood of our waitress and the service we received plus seeing some of the characters only from afar we ended up leaving feeling rather deflated and out of pocket.

Overall found it expensive for mediocre food, not all that entertaining, no singing and dancing, but the characters that did appear were great! Would try a different option next time.
