I don’t think Disney got this quite right and they can’t change it now. There was a short cute bit at the start that could have been a bit longer, and maybe broken up a little with the outside bit.
Then the actual ride itself with the swirling about, you don’t actually go upside down but you feel like you do because of spinning and I think the ‘shell’ is on its side at some points. You dont realise you are spinning just being hurled about. The ride ends very suddenly and is too short in relation to the length of queue. Also because of the steep hill we were pulled up at start I was expecting a huge drop at some point that didn’t come. Quite disappointing because of no drop and it was over too soon, though you couldn’t take much more swirling about.
I think it could have been done more like splash mountain in america, with more scenery interspersed with a few drops and swirls and then the fast bit at the end as it would have lengthened it without making you ill. I would like to go on again, but the queues were too long when we were there and there was other things to do.
I rode this last June not long after it first opened. I loved the whole experience…except the queues. My daughter (5 years old) loves the movie and all the build up but hated the ride because it scared her. I guess it is quite an intense ride with alot thrown at you. Hopefully I can coax her to ride it again when we return.
An amazing ride. I am quite dissapointed that Nemo and Squirt was only shown a couple of times!
The queing area is great…the only trouble being that I had to queue for a good hour and a half…so it is wise to get their early!
Not one for Neck problems! My mum is still suffering now!! Although she said that she loved it and would go on it again!!
Fantastic ride!
Headed straight for this ride at park opening to be greeted with a 60minute queue!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! but was well worth it!
You board the shell at a harbour fishing village; each shell sits 4 people – 2 facing forward and 2 facing backward. As the ride starts you meet Nemo through some visual effects and then are taken outside briefly and back inside, there are some steep and sharp turns and drops…almost feels like your doing a loop the loop. It is brilliant to not know which way you are going to be facing (we ended up doing the drop backwards making it even more scary!!). Think that there could be more visual effects or lighting (as someone has said below perhaps blue lighting to make you feel as if your underwater) because it’s pretty much just in darkness.
The ride was pretty short for the length of time we queued, i definately think that disney need to look into fast passing this ride!
The height restriction for this ride is 107cm, however I noticed some kids got through the height restriction at the start of the queue only to be told when they were boarding the ride that they were too small…also noticed a lot of children crying as they cam off this ride – perhaps because of darkness not sure?!
Was expecting a photo on this ride, although nothing came – perhaps another thing that disney need to look into.
Crush is a really fun ride, but is deceptive as it is quite an intense coaster, and doesn’t really go with the nemo theme (there were several children at the end in tears!!!) The queues are Extremely long and it breaks down frequently!!!!
This was one of the main reasons for vsiiting in February 2008 as we had seen the ride being built the year before.
We got to the Studios just as they opened the doors on a Sunday and joined the queue and we still waited nearly an hour before we got to ride – despite some guests trying to push into the queue and soon getting told to leave it and join the back of it!! (There is no similar scheme for the Studios to allow Disney Hotel guests to get in two hours before the Studios open, as there is for the Park).
Seeing that part of the ride leaves Studio 5 and makes a brief appearance outside (what happens when it rains!!) we were eagerly awaiting the experience.
The queue winds its way around what is meant to be a dock – I love the two seagulls – MIne, Mine!! and the clever use of advertising graphics (for example, Jacques Boat Cleaning Service!).
You sit in what appears to be an up-turned turtle shell and are restrained by a lap restraint with a strirrup handle and off you go. (Note as each “shell” takes only four people, families would have to consider how they seat themselves – two of you face forward, two face rearwards, at least initially.)
You start by going outside into the fresh air and then up a chain lift. After that your are turned and twisted around the ride but there is little to see. Disney could make the ride look as if it were underwater by using blue lighting and other effects. After two minutes or so you come back to the dock area where Crush delivers a final goodbye.
Although it has a certain appeal, there is nothing to distinguish the ride from some of the others in the park or studios. It is too dark and there is only the sensation of turning, some “g” but no real visuals.
As with many of the rides in the Studios, Disney has lost the sales opportunity of a souvenir photo of you on the ride.
I was really pumped up for this ride, the way it had been promoted was good. BUT then when I rode it I couldn’t help but feel something was missing. After you have climbed the long and high chain lift you then enter the main coaster hall (a term i made up) there is not anything to look at, disney could of made it better by adding corals that you fly through or a similar spiral effect in space mountain mission 2 (but blue). It is still enjoyable BUT is not worth the two hour wait, and it likes to break down a lot.
I was expecting a peter pan type ride, what a shock I got, the ride starts very nicely, but then you get thrown around like being in a washing machine. You are not really aware of where you are or whats happening. Saying this however the ride is fantastic.
This is such a cool ride! You think its gonna be a little boring at first with the story of Nemo even though the ride goes quite fast, but then you get to the middle bit of the ride and what a rush! The spins and turns are not too sharp and just right for little kids… Great ride!!
Absolutely amazing… thought it was going to be on the same level as Peter Pan! How wrong we were. Its thrilling in a way you don’t get with some of the other rides, you really get a feeling of weightlesness and the scenery is dreamy. 9/10 because on all days I was there, it was broken down at least once.
Brilliantly imagined and presented, the technology is much more advanced compared to other rides like Pinocchio and Snow White. Great fun for kids and adults but may be a bit fast for some. Queues WILL appear quick so get there straight away as early as possible, don’t be put off it the line is outside the ride itself as they don’t let people through till 8 o’clock. One of the most advanced rides in the both parks.
Well, this is a spectacular ride, very very funny and exciting. I know that the queue is very long, but the first time i did it i was very surprised! I went one week ago, the queue was very short, and i haven’t seen how long the queue can be… but boy, this is an excellent ride!
Never actually got on this one, as had read very mixed reviews about it. A lot of people think this is a tame kids ride as its nemo based, but whilst i stood debating whether to go on or not i sure lots of kids come off crying there eyes out, and a lot of the kids on it didn’t look happy as it passed outside.
The queue for this ride is always very very long, though this may have changed with the opening of tower of terror and there is no fastpass system as of yet.
Nice theming whilst you’re waiting inside. The ride could have been up there with the classics, but it’s just too short in my opinion… and it’s still breaking down all of the time. Why???
This is a fantastic ride, but they really need to sort out a Fastpass system for it ASAP! The ride has a tendency to break down a lot which is a real shame, especially if you have been queuing for a while – but do not simply walk away as they normally give out paper fastpasses for those who wait, which enables you to come back any other time and get on immediately (through the staff entrance).
The effects are wonderful in the first section of the ride, and are just on the right side of cutesy – this in no way prepares you for the latter half! I was absolutely shocked at how intense the second half was, I thought it was a little kiddie’s rollercoaster! It is absolutely insane, my mum and I were laughing out of shock for about half an hour afterwards.
Do not miss this ride, if there is a queue I would say it is worth waiting about 45 minutes for, and I normally do NOT do queues. If you chat away and have photos to look at like we did, it flies in.
Also, now that Tower of Terror has been put up, it may have an effect of drawing the thrill-seekers over here so the queues may settle a bit. And for those with young kids – this is even wilder than Big Thunder Mountain, so be aware of this before you go on!
