  1. A nice show and probably lovely in the dusk/dark ; not too great when it’s still daylight. We didn’t get much of a light up effect at all, we could just see the candles , and the castle didn’t light up at all (? a problem with the effects that night). I have photos of main street looking towards the castle when we left, and it still wasn’t lit up, although the banners were all twinkling. Never mind .. you can’t win them all!

  2. AMAZING display!! Get to the stage about 10minutes before it begins though as the crowd gets quite big and a lot of adults tend to put their children on their shoulders making it hard for smaller people to see!! Loved the routine from mickey, minnie, pluto, goofy, chip n dale, donald and daisy!! Music is very catchy.

It wasn’t dark when we were there (13th March 08) but Main St and the castle look gorgeous once all lit up!! The trees around the stage and castle are covered with the foil that explodes during the performance, is gorgeous in day light when the sun hits on it!

  3. The magic of Disneyland Paris at dusk and the early evening.
This has got to be the best time to see the Candleabration as the lighting and other effects are only revealed by the dark!

The 15th birthday party really does have a good feel to it.

From the decorations on the castle to the 15th birthday banners all over the park but most evident down Main Street (they light up as darkness falls) this cadleabration rounds off a superb day in Disneyland.

The music starts (It is “Flying” from the 2003 film “Peter Pan” in case you were wondering) and the castle is in darkness as the dance troupe, dressed in pale blue and white and carrying 15th birthday flags, make their way down the drawbridge to the central podium. As the tempo and volume increases the characters appear and the climax is reached when Mickey and Minnie arrive.

After a brief dance routine, Mickey says a few words then points at the castle which changes colour, going from blue to red to pink to yellow - very special.

The spiral lights fitted to the central tower start to wind up towards the pinnacle where Tinkerbell explodes colour foil over the park.

There are fifteen candles that are lit, each held by a well-known Disney character.

On some days the roofs of the towers are covered in bright white lights that make them look as if snow has fallen.

Truly spectacular and worth watching. If you want to see the floor show then get into position early (about 30 minutes before the start). If not no matter from where you watch it will be good.

Get a weekly programme to find out when the Candleabration will start (Main Street entrances or Town Hall, have plenty as do the Disney Hotels).

One little souvenir we picked up was a bit of the golden foil - we noted which way the wind was blowing and stood where we though it would land!

Some of the foil inevitably lands in the moat around the castle and gets tangled up in the drain hole (whirlpool) adding a little colour to it. I am sure that the drainage engineers love clearing this out every time!!
The trees around the central roundabout are bedecked with loose foil from previous times. Adds a little colour in the winter though.

  4. Loved this, well performed, great characters. Quick and easy to see but better the later it is in the year as when i saw it the candles didn’t look like they were lighting up as it was still light.

  5. What can i say, truly magical. Candleabration was on at 6pm when i went and it was rather dark. I loved the way the characters came down from the castle, my daughter had a great interaction with them all. The whole show brought tears to my eyes. I ended up watching this 3 times throughout my trip. When Mickey lights up the castle it really is a magical touch to a day spent in the Disney land park. Definatley a show not to be missed.

  6. Fantastic , truly magical , the only negative was that it was difficult to see the characters but a video camera aided this with zoom. The castle looked brilliant lit up and it truly felt like a celebration.

  7. Magical and enchanted at dusk or night, but boring at daytime. If you want tto see night version, go at the Christmas Season, the 31th october, at January to mid-March, May and June’s weekends, July and August. If you want to see the Candleabration at dusk, go at mid-March to April, May and June (except weekends), September and October (except 31th).

  8. This must work really well at night-time - but otherwise I don’t see the point! It is quite a nice little ceremony, but it would be so much better in my opinion if the music ‘Just Like we Dreamed It’ wasn’t so ‘High School Musical’, and when the characters sing over it, it is just a bit too much schmaltz! As I say, it is probably because I have seen it during the day time, but this draws such huge crowds, I just don’t think it is worth standing about waiting for I’m afraid.

  10. I must agree. It’s really, really MAGICAL! Everything was perfect! The dance, the music, the lightings… EVERYTHING! I especially like the part when Mickey lights up the 15 candles on Sleeping Beauty’s Castle! It was spectacular! everyone has to see it! It’s not just any SHOW… you can really feel the mood & hapiness in your heart while watching it. I dunno why but i almost had tears flowing out of my eyes towards the end of the show. Unforgettable!!

  11. 10 stars from me to this special 15th anniversary show! Just one word: magical! We saw the nighttime version when it was already dark. When the music starts, I had to shiver. Mickey and the dancers perform a professional dance and after it, Mickey lights up the candles on the Castle - this is a really magical moment with great music! In the end, Mickey is dancing with his friends on the stage to the song “Just Like We Dreamed It” - the celebration won’t last forever, so it’s really worth seeing!

  12. Enjoyed this show - was good to see all the characters in the one place at the same time (Chip ‘n’ Dale were amazing). Loved as each part lit up one at a time and then the finale with Tinkerbell throwing her pixie dust. Well worth seeing.

  13. I have seen it twice last week and have been impressed both times though at 7pm was not dark enough to enjoy ti completely.
It gave me a *magic* feeling and so did the rest of the party as they run to see it the second time round.
It is worth watching but suppose it is even better at night.

  14. Despite the park being open til 10pm on the Saturday of our visit, Candleabration was done at 8pm. The rest of our stay it was on at 7pm. This is a great problem for a ‘light’ show as it wasn’t even getting dark. The sun was still very much up and so all we could see were the dancers and characters on stage. We were looking forward to seeing this after watching videos but felt it was really wasted due to it still being light. The lights looked amazing on Main Street and on the castle later on in the evenings, but we didn’t see the ‘turning on’ of them. The Christmas ‘Enchanted Fairytale Ceremony’ had a real atmosphere and ‘wow’ factor to it, which I’m sure this would have if the settings had been appropriate. It also gets incredibly busy, so if you want a good view - secure your spot early.

Candleabration

Grand ceremony at the heart of the 15th Anniversary celebrations.

Every night, a glorious gathering of Disney characters heralds the grand illumination of the Castle’s fifteen glowing candles.
