  1. One of the hidden attractions lying beneath Sleeping Beauty’s castle. Here lies the dragon in its dark and wet cave. (Enter the cave from the left hand side - head towards Adventureland but take the path leading towards the castle).

The animatronics and 3D effects are brilliant. Wait for a few minutes for your eyes to get used to the dark and you will see much more.
At one point the dragon let out a squirt of steam from its nostrils but in February 2008 this did not happen. The claw moves it “fingers” and you can hear the dragon roar!

You must take in this one - but be warned, those of a nervous disposition or of a young age may become a little scared.

  2. I love this dragon, shows some of disneys finest skills.

Last time i visited tho i did notice alot of very scared small children as the caves before you get to the dragon are very dark and then your suddenly faced with this huge breathing dragon.

  3. Both my 7 and 4 yr old think it is real, but they aren’t scared of him. We named him Derek! He is great, I like the way his tail twitched in the pool of water.

  4. Another hidden attraction which is really great! Enter round the left hand side of the castle (facing it front ways). Dark caves and a fantastic dragon which comes to life! May scare younger children.

    Definitely take a look.

  6. I wasn’t expecting much when I heard about this . . . but

YOU MUST VISIT THE DRAGON’S LAIR!

Beneath the castle the giant dragon sleeps, but when she wakes, she shows all her fearsome power! Well worth a visit - and no queues!

Beware with little ones though. When the dragon starts to stir - hold them close. They can protect you, and she’ll eat them first while you get away.

  7. Really good addition to the castle, and definitely worth checking out while you’re there. You can even see him breathing!

  8. Oh, I love this Dragon. This attraction really shows the skills of the imagineers.

Walk past the Snow White shop and turn right through the dark passages and meet the real sleeping beauty of this castle.

Slight hitch, my three year old is terrified of her.

  9. A great “little” extra sleeping underneath the Castle. It’s the biggest animatronic Disney every used in one of their parcs. You can reach it by 3 ways, where one is from the castle shops and the other 2 from down the castle.

  10. Beneath Sleeping Beauty’s castle lies an incredible animatronic dragon that is well worth a look. Although usually sleeping, he does wake up occasionally in an explosion of sound and smoke that can petrify small children.

La Tanière du Dragon

Audio-Animatronic sleeping dragon hiding in the lair beneath the castle.

Sneak into the dark, secret lair beneath the castle and discover the legendary dragon as he peacefully sleeps. Don’t step to close, this is one fantastical fairytale character that isn’t looking for a happily ever after!
