This was a fun coaster when we eventually got on it. The wait was horrible (45 minutes in April). I would have skipped this one but our eldest daughter has now reached the magic height that lets her on some of the bigger rides now, and try convincing her she doesn’t want to ride!
It’s quite a fast ride once it eventually gets going. We suffered a breakdown for one of our rides which meant another long wait.
I don’t think Disney got this quite right and they can’t change it now. There was a short cute bit at the start that could have been a bit longer, and maybe broken up a little with the outside bit.
Then the actual ride itself with the swirling about, you don’t actually go upside down but you feel like you do because of spinning and I think the ’shell’ is on its side at some points. You dont realise you are spinning just being hurled about. The ride ends very suddenly and is too short in relation to the length of queue. Also because of the steep hill we were pulled up at start I was expecting a huge drop at some point that didn’t come. Quite disappointing because of no drop and it was over too soon, though you couldn’t take much more swirling about.
I think it could have been done more like splash mountain in america, with more scenery interspersed with a few drops and swirls and then the fast bit at the end as it would have lengthened it without making you ill. I would like to go on again, but the queues were too long when we were there and there was other things to do.
I rode this last June not long after it first opened. I loved the whole experience…except the queues. My daughter (5 years old) loves the movie and all the build up but hated the ride because it scared her. I guess it is quite an intense ride with alot thrown at you. Hopefully I can coax her to ride it again when we return.
Headed straight for this ride at park opening to be greeted with a 60minute queue!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! but was well worth it!
You board the shell at a harbour fishing village; each shell sits 4 people - 2 facing forward and 2 facing backward. As the ride starts you meet Nemo through some visual effects and then are taken outside briefly and back inside, there are some steep and sharp turns and drops…almost feels like your doing a loop the loop. It is brilliant to not know which way you are going to be facing (we ended up doing the drop backwards making it even more scary!!). Think that there could be more visual effects or lighting (as someone has said below perhaps blue lighting to make you feel as if your underwater) because it’s pretty much just in darkness.
The ride was pretty short for the length of time we queued, i definately think that disney need to look into fast passing this ride!
The height restriction for this ride is 107cm, however I noticed some kids got through the height restriction at the start of the queue only to be told when they were boarding the ride that they were too small…also noticed a lot of children crying as they cam off this ride - perhaps because of darkness not sure?!
Was expecting a photo on this ride, although nothing came - perhaps another thing that disney need to look into.
Crush is a really fun ride, but is deceptive as it is quite an intense coaster, and doesn’t really go with the nemo theme (there were several children at the end in tears!!!) The queues are Extremely long and it breaks down frequently!!!!
This was one of the main reasons for vsiiting in February 2008 as we had seen the ride being built the year before.
We got to the Studios just as they opened the doors on a Sunday and joined the queue and we still waited nearly an hour before we got to ride - despite some guests trying to push into the queue and soon getting told to leave it and join the back of it!! (There is no similar scheme for the Studios to allow Disney Hotel guests to get in two hours before the Studios open, as there is for the Park).
Seeing that part of the ride leaves Studio 5 and makes a brief appearance outside (what happens when it rains!!) we were eagerly awaiting the experience.
The queue winds its way around what is meant to be a dock - I love the two seagulls - MIne, Mine!! and the clever use of advertising graphics (for example, Jacques Boat Cleaning Service!).
You sit in what appears to be an up-turned turtle shell and are restrained by a lap restraint with a strirrup handle and off you go. (Note as each “shell” takes only four people, families would have to consider how they seat themselves - two of you face forward, two face rearwards, at least initially.)
You start by going outside into the fresh air and then up a chain lift. After that your are turned and twisted around the ride but there is little to see. Disney could make the ride look as if it were underwater by using blue lighting and other effects. After two minutes or so you come back to the dock area where Crush delivers a final goodbye.
Although it has a certain appeal, there is nothing to distinguish the ride from some of the others in the park or studios. It is too dark and there is only the sensation of turning, some “g” but no real visuals.
As with many of the rides in the Studios, Disney has lost the sales opportunity of a souvenir photo of you on the ride.
I was really pumped up for this ride, the way it had been promoted was good. BUT then when I rode it I couldn’t help but feel something was missing. After you have climbed the long and high chain lift you then enter the main coaster hall (a term i made up) there is not anything to look at, disney could of made it better by adding corals that you fly through or a similar spiral effect in space mountain mission 2 (but blue). It is still enjoyable BUT is not worth the two hour wait, and it likes to break down a lot.
I was expecting a peter pan type ride, what a shock I got, the ride starts very nicely, but then you get thrown around like being in a washing machine. You are not really aware of where you are or whats happening. Saying this however the ride is fantastic.
This is such a cool ride! You think its gonna be a little boring at first with the story of Nemo even though the ride goes quite fast, but then you get to the middle bit of the ride and what a rush! The spins and turns are not too sharp and just right for little kids… Great ride!!
Absolutely amazing… thought it was going to be on the same level as Peter Pan! How wrong we were. Its thrilling in a way you don’t get with some of the other rides, you really get a feeling of weightlesness and the scenery is dreamy. 9/10 because on all days I was there, it was broken down at least once.
Brilliantly imagined and presented, the technology is much more advanced compared to other rides like Pinocchio and Snow White. Great fun for kids and adults but may be a bit fast for some. Queues WILL appear quick so get there straight away as early as possible, don’t be put off it the line is outside the ride itself as they don’t let people through till 8 o’clock. One of the most advanced rides in the both parks.
Well, this is a spectacular ride, very very funny and exciting. I know that the queue is very long, but the first time i did it i was very surprised! I went one week ago, the queue was very short, and i haven’t seen how long the queue can be… but boy, this is an excellent ride!
Never actually got on this one, as had read very mixed reviews about it. A lot of people think this is a tame kids ride as its nemo based, but whilst i stood debating whether to go on or not i sure lots of kids come off crying there eyes out, and a lot of the kids on it didn’t look happy as it passed outside.
The queue for this ride is always very very long, though this may have changed with the opening of tower of terror and there is no fastpass system as of yet.
Nice theming whilst you’re waiting inside. The ride could have been up there with the classics, but it’s just too short in my opinion… and it’s still breaking down all of the time. Why???
This is a fantastic ride, but they really need to sort out a Fastpass system for it ASAP! The ride has a tendency to break down a lot which is a real shame, especially if you have been queuing for a while - but do not simply walk away as they normally give out paper fastpasses for those who wait, which enables you to come back any other time and get on immediately (through the staff entrance).
The effects are wonderful in the first section of the ride, and are just on the right side of cutesy - this in no way prepares you for the latter half! I was absolutely shocked at how intense the second half was, I thought it was a little kiddie’s rollercoaster! It is absolutely insane, my mum and I were laughing out of shock for about half an hour afterwards.
Do not miss this ride, if there is a queue I would say it is worth waiting about 45 minutes for, and I normally do NOT do queues. If you chat away and have photos to look at like we did, it flies in.
Also, now that Tower of Terror has been put up, it may have an effect of drawing the thrill-seekers over here so the queues may settle a bit. And for those with young kids - this is even wilder than Big Thunder Mountain, so be aware of this before you go on!
One of my favourite rides. Not really for the kids, even though it’s Finding Nemo based. Agreed with comment below, its rather like spinball whizzer at Alton Towers but in the dark!
The 2 times I waited in line to get on Crush’s Coaster we were turned away because the ride had broken. Very Disappointed considering its the newest ride so should be the ride that needs to fixed the Least!
Great rollercoaster but don’t be decieved by the Nemo theming that it will suit all younger visitors. The coaster section is really quite surprisingly intense and there were plenty of houling kids at the exit. As the coaster part is is in the dark its at least as scary as Thunder Mountain. Expect very long queues but its a great ride with plenty to keep you on your toes
The queueline, although not amazing, is still very good, especially for the Studios.
The dark ride part is totally fantastic and immersive, though a bit short.
As for the rollercoaster part… it could have been more themed, but it is soooo fun ! You’ll never know where you are, it is very fast BUT very smooth !
9/10, only because 10/10 is now reserved for the Tower of Terror (my new standard for what a Disney masterpiece should be)
I have just returned from my 8th visit to DLRP and had read the reviews on this ride and was looking forward to trying it out for myself. Being a fairly new attraction the queue was about 40 minutes but it was well worth the wait. As mentioned in previous reviews the waiting area wasn’t very interesting.
I thought it was going to be a much calmer ride and was pleasantly surprised by the drops and turns in the dark. I also liked the brief part of the ride outside the building where everyone waiting can see your expressions as you whizz by!
I highly recommend you try this ride if you like roller coasters - you won’t be disappointed! 10/10
I expected this to be a kiddies ride, but it was quite fast and the effects were amazing. It reminded me of a slightly slower version of Spinball Whizzer at Alton Towers. It was a nice change from the faster Rock and Roller coaster. I would definately recommend it!
Having just returned from 3 days at Disneyland Paris, I have to say that I thought Crush’s Coaster is one of the best rides I have been on. It was smooth and fast and brilliantly themed. I was looking forward to trying this ride and was not disappointed. Yes, the theming in the queue could have been better but the ride itself was wonderful. Highly recommended!
Crush’s coaster is by far the best coaster at WDS, the technology is much more advanced compared to other attractions such at Blanche-Neige et les Sept Nains and Les Voyages de Pinocchio. It really looks like your underwater and the coaster towards the end is amazing the way the cart spins and you’re in the dark. The only downfall is that the queue for the ride is extremely long but well worth the wait.
Between 60 - 85 mins queue on both days we were there throughout the day. Fastpasses gone by 10:30am. The most popular ride at the Studios by far but they should try Fastpassing it better.
The queue for the ride is very disappointing. It just seems like they ran out of money after making the ride. The line up in the queue is far to wide so watch out for unsuspecting guests running and budging.
The ride itself is a 10/10. The dark room scenes are unbelievable. Be aware at the top of the large hill that your coaster does spin. We weren’t ready for this the first time and well it made it a lot of fun but when your going down the first large drop backwards and don’t know about it, its a bit terrifying! Other than that have fun and surfs up dude!
This ride is great but be prepared because it isn´t so easy like it appears to be. It´s a great feeling the dark ride, in second everything changes, and you feel like you´ll be project to the dark. Great!
The outside queueing line is depressing but the inside one is not much different.
The ride itself is a lot quicker than i thought, the first swoop is endless and the turtle shell didnt make me feeling i was protected enough.
Both me and my son felt dizzy and with a weak stomach after , he wanted to try it again and i didnt.
When they show you the preview on the Hotel’s Tvs it looks like there is a lot to see as you ride but actually there isnt , just dark and more dark and every now and then the shadow of a character.
I think this ride is great! The queue line is a little boring, but it moves pretty fast and before you know it you’re on the ride!
The dark ride section fantastic. It’s a little short, but the coral reefs look really good and the Nemo and Squirt projections look almost real! I also liked the lift hill part where Bruce tries to attack you. It wasn’t scary at all, but it was probably one of the best lift hills I’ve been on.
The coaster part was the only part where I was slightly disappointed. You can see all the track and there is literally no theming apart from some blue lights. The layout is very fun though with some great little drops and turns.
This was a lot more of a ‘rollercoaster’ than I anticipated. The lap bars are really misleading - you start off thinking it will probably be like Big Thunder Mountain, but it’s not. If you sit facing forwards, you get to see a lot more in the ‘dark ride’ section. Saying this, (and if you’re a rollercoaster addict) it feels a lot more intense sat backwards as the drops and sharp turns seem to pull on your body a lot more.
Some cars spin more than others - I don’t think it’s anything to do with weights of passengers as we went with 2 children behind us, a couple in their 20’s and a mother and a child. It was different each time. The part where your shell goes outside is almost immediately after boarding, which is a nice surprise and the lift hill is very fast.
We had queue times displayed of 40 mins, although timed it on our watches and it was really only 25. On the weekends, be prepared to wait in excess of 120 minutes. This is insane - so either do it at about 1.30pm in the weekdays (during the parade) or run to it as soon as the studios open. It’s worth a 25min wait.
I love this coaster, it is somewhere between the feeling of Indiana Jones, the fast but smooth turns of Rock n’ Rollercoaster and the final dark section of Big Thunder Mountain. Fantastic.
Excellent attraction, unfortunately without fastpass entrance. So we were among the first to enter WDS at 9.00, but had to wait for almost 40 minutes because everyone was running and pushing. I’ll be in the park last weekend of september, but i will not do this attraction unless there is a fastpass entry.
Not digging the ‘waiting line’ section… It quickly becomes boring (especially because of the 101s that make you stay even longer in this section…) and until you get inside and see the seagulls (my favorite part in the loading area !) and stuff, it’s not really interesting.
The ride, though, is absolutely great ! Far more than I expected ! I love being on the back seats for the first part, and then the first drop in the dark ride. Juste huge !
And I think they should have planned FastPass tickets for this attraction… wouldn’t have been a bad idea…
A very fun ride, but was much faster than I expected! I had my eyes shut for most of the fast section as it made me feel dizzy, but Big Thunder Mountain used to be my limit, this has pushed the boundaries for me a bit so I might branch out into the bigger rides next time I visit!
The theming is very well done as well. I love the loading area, and it’s all done with a lot of care and attention. The ride itself is very smooth and you don’t feel thrown around at all.
Very attracting ride with a short but really cool darkride part. The rollercoaster itself can make you feel kinda dizzy since the cars are spinning and the coaster has some sharp drops and turns.
