  1. This is the most dissapointing attraction at DLRP. i just cannot see the point of it. Unless you are in a specific place you miss most of the special effects. Very dissapointing.

  2. We didn’t really enjoy this one. It was far too loud for our 5 yr old and for me it was the most disappointing aspect of the Studios Park. The effects were all well and good but it just misses the magic somehow.

  3. I totally agree with other comments that the pre-ride show is in need of being redesigned and a new format is needed. The pre-show does nothing to enhance the guest experience.

A brief history on special film effects and more space orientated film clips and some real artefacts from the film on display would be good. There is a need to balance the time taken to get into the ride and the time to deliver the pre-show against how long the actual “ride” lasts. No-one is fooled by the “you are being cast for a role in the film” chat. Do we need to practice screaming before we go in!

The actual effects in the space station are good but unless you are standing by one of the viewports you do not see much. The impacts are well done as are the meteors passing through the ride. Fire, steam and water add to the overall sensory confusion in the dark and there it ends. There is no finale - effects finish, doors open and out you go.

Come on imagineers at DLRP, think up something that gives the guest a real Armaggedon experience. What about a 3D simulation ride (ala Star Tours) to the Space Station or even to the asteroid after the space station has been destroyed.

Get some background music and get some more atmosphere.

  4. The preshow for this ride is dull in the extreme and detracts from what is otherwise a great ride, the effects are good and realistic but the actual ride is too short compared to the lengthy show that you have to endure to get on it.

  5. I think the preshow to this ride is extremely boring. If it was a one or two minute preshow, then it would be alright. But 10 minutes is just too much.

I think the space shuttle part of this ride is okay. The effects are good, and there is quite an atmosphere, but in the end nothing really happens. When you’re standing there, you have all that shaking, all those loud noises, and you hear about the meteor that’s going to hit. And then all you get is a little dent in the ceiling and a short burst of fire. I was expecting something big to happen! It was almost as if somebody had hit the emergency stop button - The ride just seems to stop in the middle of it all and then you just walk out.

I think you should only do this ride if you want to waste time. It’s not really worth any more than a five minute wait.

  6. The pre show talk is to be honest boring, in less you have a special interest in this kind of thing. It involves alot of standing around.

Finally you are led through into the space shuttle itself and the real fun begins. The special effects are very very impressive but over in minutes. It is very loud however and at one point all the lights go off and its pitch black so very daunting for some children. The special effects are also very near to you and it gets very very hot.

All in all, not really enough to hold adults interest and abit to loud and involving to much standing around for the children.

  7. Be prepared to stand around a lot with this one,
you will be standing around in the holding area before you go in and then theres a talk from one of the Cast Members about special effects through time, which is interesting if your into that stuff.
Then you go into the space shuttle, which actaully isnt bad, lots of shaking, fire and smoke
gets really hot, and hold on to the bars!

  8. Very disapponted by this show, they seemed to be trying to make the pre-show entertaining but it didn’t work and there’s no real relation to the show itself apart from the frankly flimsy excuses about being cast members and seeing some history of special effects. I thought the show itself lacked any real imaginitive edge with no real surprises. It seems to miss its mark being too loud for very young children but not creative or convincing enough to really angage older visitors.

  9. Great attraction, not as good as I expected, but the effects were great and you really felt like you were in the middle of the action.

  10. I was quite disappointed with this attraction. To begin with you are shown into a room where a cast member shows you different special effects on screen and tries to get you to do a bit of reacting to different scenarios, in order to get you into the ‘acting mood’! The effects were basically good once in the actual attraction, but didnt last very long and we left thinking ‘was that it’? This is not for those with sensitive hearing, its very loud!

I am glad we got to see what it was, but I wouldnt waste time queuing up for it (we walked straight in)!

    5/10

  11. IS THIS Really the best the new Disney company can come up with. Log, Long queues. The a pre-show ‘presentation that goes on and on and on . . .

Into the control room of a space craft - good scenery and structures - well themed. Then lots of unexplained loud banging, smoke and fire, and . . . Exit. You have to stand through the whole thing, so little people can’t see, and for adults, well - What?

My recommendation - do something else!

  12. I have to say I liked this attraction, but the video which is shown before is a little bit too long.

  13. Worst thing at Disney. After waiting for 15 minutes in a crowded room listening to a staff member rambling in around 12 languages you then get a 5 minute video then around 4 minutes of a drab ‘attraction’. See it if queue is minial but DO NOT waste time on this!

  14. The preshow is boring and a bit too long, the show itself is a good one.
My eldest son thought it had more special effects but for me there are a few good ones.
Some kids were scared by them so if you have little ones in your party be careful

  15. First time I went on it, I loved it, second time there appeared to be a problem and only half the effects worked.

I really liked it first time around though.

The preshow really needs to be shortened.

  16. The special effects portion of this attraction is rather good, with chaos erupting all around the audience. The special effects are clever and realistic, and the finale is memorable.

Unfortunately, before getting to the special effects portion, guests must suffer through a tedious and overlong 10 minute preshow. This boring preshow adds little to the attraction, as it doesn’t really explain much about special effects. It really puts a dampener on the whole thing and affects the overall enjoyment of the attraction.

This is a popular attraction and can attract a long wait. This is one to do first thing in the morning after Crush’s Coaster. This attraction is very intense as the special effects are “close” to the audience and involve a lot of noise, smoke and fire. Young children are likely to be scared by this attraction.
