Toon Studio PlazaA brand new area of the land opened in 2007, providing a new entrance gate for the studio, strictly for Toons only. With a security booth, several photo locations and a food retail cart. The hills of Town Town can be seen in the distance. HistoryOriginally due to be a single attraction and restaurant in the 1992 Disney-MGM Studios Europe plans, Animation Courtyard became a larger land with the 1999 Disney Studios Paris project relaunch, featuring two attractions. Flying Carpets Over Agrabah was added to the project in 2000 following the cancellation of a Production Courtyard sound effects show. The land opened 16th March 2002 with the park, with very minimal exterior themeing and little to no separation from the rest of the park. On 11th January 2005, Toon Studio was announced as an expansion of the land. Cars Quatre Roues Rallye and Crush's Coaster began construction in early 2006, with the placemaking project beginning later the same year. MusicToon Studio Area LoopThe current Toon Studio area loop is almost indentical to that of Animation Courtyard at Disney-MGM Studios Florida, an orchestral mix of Disney soundtracks from Mulan and Pinocchio and The Jungle Book. A new area loop was introduced for several days in early April 2007 and expected to become the new loop for the entire land, but it has so far not returned. It featured a selection of Disney melodies in a relaxed, piano/lounge style. Most notably several pieces from Fantasia, Fantasia 2000 and even Walt Disney World's SpectroMagic. Crush's Coaster LoopThe queue area of Crush's Coaster has its own independant loop, a reworking of Thomas Newman's themes for the film by Ed Kalnins under Newman's direction. Cars Quatre Roues Rallye LoopThe queue area of Cars Quatre Roues Rallye features a "mix tape" of over over 15 classic road songs and more recent songs from the film itself, such as Route 66 and Life is a Highway. Closed & ReplacedMickey's Trailer(2002 - 2005) Photo location. Positioned on the current spot of the giant Cars Quatre Roues Rallye rock formation, this trailer location was moved to Production Courtyard in 2005 to allow Toon Studio contruction to begin. The Incredibles' Podium(2004 - 2007) A temporary photo location positioned between the two exit doors of Art of Disney Animation. Featured a winners' podium with an Incredibles backdrop similar to that now seen at the Toon Studio Plaza. Chicken Little Oakey Oaks(2005 - 2007) A temporary photo location which featured a row of Oakey Oaks buildings, formed in both 2D and 3D designs. Positioned between Animagique and Monsters Inc Scream Scene. |
