Walt Disney Studios ParkTips & Advice

Don't miss the "Action!"

You needn't arrive very early to see Toon Train, just a few minutes before showtime. When the cavalcade arrives and circles the square, move quickly to its final stopping point on the same side it entered. The Toon Train then leaves via the other gate, alternating each performance.

The show is a good choice in the middle of the day, when attractions have the longest queues and the park is at its busiest. The location effectively outside the main park area can provide a relaxing break.

Dance to the "Musique!"

At various points in the show, Chip, Dale and Clarice invite children to dance with them to the "lights, camera, musique". They usually pick children at the front and centre of the audience.

Totally 'Toon' tunes, with "tic" and "tac"!

Live jazz music and a familiar group of chipmunks, dressed in classic gangster costumes, meet against the backdrop of Toon Train - a colourful cavalcade bringing the wacky spirit of the new Toon Studio to Place des Frères Lumière at the entrance of Walt Disney Studios Park.

This is your grand introduction to the "Lights", "Camera" and "Musique" of the Toons, with plenty of skipping, dancing "Action" thrown in!

Lights...Camera...Musique!

The Toon Train is made up of three colourful, detailed Toon movie sets - an office, a Toon Town street and a glamorous dressing room - pulled by a backlot production truck piled high with cameras, film reels and accessories. The train pulls into Place des Frères Lumière to a lively jingle of Disney cartoon music, coming to a halt beside the bubbling Fantasia Fountain for its brilliant jazz musicians to entertain their audience - with Chip and Dale causing as much mischief as possible!

First they pretend to be playing the intruments, then they mess around with the colourful props... next, they've got children from the audience dancing around the courtyard! Finally, the big surprise comes when a bright new starlet emerges from the dressing room - Clarice! The female chipmunk the pair tried (and failed) to woo in the the 1951 short film “Two Chips and a Miss”, now their glamorous gangster femme.

Toon Train brings toe-tapping live music and familiar (furry) faces to Front Lot throughout the Summer season.

Behind the Magic

Toon Train: Lights...Camera...Musique! first premiered on Place des Freres Lumiere on 14th July 2007, celebrating the inauguration of Toon Studio throughout the 15th Anniversary Summer season. The musicians may be familiar to regular park visitors - they're the Walt Disney Studios' resident band, previously seen in Disney Studio 1. The three trailer sets and the Toon Train truck are those previously used for the 2005-2006 Starring Cruella De Vil show in Production Courtyard, completely redecorated throughout with a more colourful and wacky cartoon theme:

The centre rolling backdrop is no longer a wild, Wintry lane but a colourful and detailed depiction of the "real" Toon Town, at Disneyland in California. The white Chevrolet truck has been adorned with a giant red nose, the show’s logos and the filming accessories of Starring Cruella De Vil in its back. The dressing room’s mirror is now filled with postcards from Paris, “good luck” notes, photos from the 15th Anniversary Launch, some Disney Dollars from the US parks and even a classic Mickey Mouse Club sticker.

Rumours of a "Toon Train" first spread as early as late April 2007, describing a moving trailer with live musicians and Disney characters arriving in Toon Studio itself several times daily. However, since Toon Studio only has one access gate large enough to accommodate a cavalcade such as this, a circular route was not be possible and the show has been presented from the outset in Front Lot.
