Viewing Tips

  • The parade begins approximately 20 minutes before the 4pm start time of Disney's Once Upon a Dream Parade, so plan to find a viewing spot from around 3.15pm onwards, or earlier if crowds are high.
  • Parade direction is from "it's a small world" to Town Square.

Fun Facts

  • This is the first ever Halloween pre-parade to be presented at Disneyland Resort Paris. Previous festivals have seen Halloween celebrated with either a separate, small cavalcade or an overlay of the regular daytime parade.

The Music

  • The music mix alternates between two different songs, from two different international Disney resorts. The first is "Boo to You" from Walt Disney World's Halloween celebrations, the second "Happy Happy Halloween" from Tokyo Disneyland's 2004 season.

History

  • The Halloween Opening Parade presents a mixture of two events from 2006 - Disney Villains Parade and La Cavalcade de Stitch.
  • From Disney Villains Parade (and the former Wonderful World Of Disney Parade) are the Cinderella Coach and Snow White floats, here transformed into a pink pumpkin coach (a new transformation) and an orange paint factory (as during previous Halloween seasons), respectively. The main feature from La Cavalcade de Stitch is Lilo's vehicle which closes the parade, repainted from its original red colour to a rusty orange.

"Stitch and the Pink Witches"
The seven glittering dreams of Disney's Once Upon a Dream Parade are preceeded by a nightmarish cavalcade of horrors every day throughout the season, starring mischievous Stitch and the Pink Witches' glamorous queen.

With Disney's Once Upon a Dream Parade still shiny and new from its debut at the start of the 15th Anniversary celebrations, there's no way its creators could let the Disney Villains transform it as they did the previous daytime parade. Instead, Halloween arrives with this special pre-parade 20 minutes in advance of the main event... a fright-filled nightmare before the dreams can begin.

The Parade

Image

Crowds gather along the parade route, looking eagerly along Main Street, children with painted faces and wild, ghoulish hair. Before the colourful, joyful dreams of the park's brand new daytime parade begin, a special Halloween "spooktacular" is set to turn the parade route into a gloomy cavalcade of fearsome faces and ghoulish floats.

The Halloween Opening Parade sets the tone for the entire festival. A deep and menacing voice introduces the spectacle as it appears on the distance, before chirpy and bouncy "Boo to You" music turns the entire celebration to an unexpectedly fun occasion...

Image
Pink Witches

Shouting, shrieking and screaming, the frightful gang of Pink Witches gaggle together at the front of the parade, cackling and "singing" along to the music, waving their green broomsticks and grimacing at the crowds.

Pink Witches' Pumpkin Carriage float

The romantic fairytale of Cinderella has been turned on its head by the witches, pulled by skeletons on horseback, coloured pink all over and dotted with pumpkins. Riding inside the giant pumpkin itself is their glamorous beauty queen (at least, so they say) wishing everyone a happy Halloween.

Image
Pumpkin Men

Halloween favourites the Pumpkin Men follow the pumpkin carriage religiously, arms flailing around and pumpkin heads spinning.

Stitch's Paint Workshop float

A parade float splattered with orange paint overflowing from a giant paint pot trundles along the parade route, several classic cartoon characters hiding behind orange Halloween masks to wave to their guests. Where's Stitch? There he is, jumping out of the giant paint pot! Stitch wears a large orange pumpkin mask and mumbles greetings to the crowd as he goes by.

Lilo's Creepy Contraption vehicle

Finally, Lilo has climbed aboard a clunky contraption to chase desperately after Stitch as he continues to wreak havoc. The vehicle snakes from side to side across the parade route, bubbling and tittering with smoke pouring from its engines.

Happy, happy, happy, happy Halloween!
