Viewing Tips

  • The Central Plaza Stage has no seating and may have limited viewing, depending on the guests which stand in front of you. Before settling on a place, try to avoid parents in front of you who may lift children onto their shoulders!
  • You should arrive at least 20-25 minutes in advance for a good view, and stand facing toward the Castle. The show can otherwise be seen from the side or rear views.

Fun Facts

  • This is the first time a Halloween Festival show has been presented on the Central Plaza Stage, thanks to the year-long Candleabration which continues throughout the events. Since 2003, the Giant Pumpkin previously occupied the spot.
  • Several costumes are "recycled" from previous entertainment productions which ended in 2006, such as the Disney Villains Parade (2003-2006) and Starring Cruella De Vil (2005-2006).

The Music

  • "Are you ready for Halloween?" is taken from Tokyo Disneyland's 2006 'Disney Halloween Parade - Scream & Shout', where it could also be heard in a rock version for the Haunted Rockin' nightime parade.
  • The compilation of Disney Villain soundtracks is taken from many different sources. Of particular note, the Cruella De Vil mix is taken from Walt Disney Studios Park's Starring Cruella De Vil (2005-2006).
  • Maleficent's startling finale of "It's Good To Be Bad" is taken from Le Livre Magique de Mickey (1992-1994).
  • "It's good to be back..." is taken from Mickey's Boo-to-You Halloween Parade at Walt Disney World, specifically the "Villains' Ball" unit.

History

  • The show is a brand new concept for the 2007 season, using the same stage as the 15th Anniversary ceremony Candleabration. New banners themed to the show were placed around Central Plaza to temporarily replace those featuring Lumière for the anniversary.

Are you ready? Are you ready for Halloween?
Jump, shout, howl and scream - the Disney Villains are about to take over Central Plaza with their frightful Halloween Showtime of classic villainous songs, a far cry from the happy, happy Halloween Minnie Mouse had envisioned...
Image

Brand new for the 2007 festival, Disney Villains' Halloween Showtime sees Minnie Mouse join Stitch for a classic musical revue of Disney Villains and their respective, villainous songs with a large cast of dancers. This could be considered the key event of 2007's Halloween festivities.

The Show

In the garden landscape of Central Plaza, its grassy slopes dotted with pumpkins of all shapes and sizes for the Autumn season, a large circular stage stands dominant amongst the trees. Around it, banners announce "Les Méchants Disney font leur Halloween Show", a special production starting right now...

Image

The keys of a distant organ build louder and louder throughout the plaza as a cackling voice introduces the show. Pink Witches and Pumpkin Men appear on stage, plotting in one corner, before the voice suddenly proclaims "Let's have fun!" and the atmosphere turns light and happy with a poppy Halloween dance. Minnie Mouse climbs on-stage with Stitch, dancing to "Are you ready... Are you ready for Halloween?", and the two compare their new outfits - Minnie as a Pink Witch with crooked hat and Stitch as a Pumpkin Man, orange face mask at the ready.

With the final shout and scream, Minnie welcomes the audience and wishes everyone a happy Halloween. "Now, are you ready? Then let the party begin!"

Unfortunately, Minnie's happy Halloween is thwarted almost instantly by the crash of thunder and the appearance of an uninvited guest - Maleficent. Smoke pours from the stage and Stitch growls, as Maleficent asks - "excuse me Minnie, why wasn't I invited to your party?". The menace soons lays out her plans for a truly frightening celebration. Whilst Stitch enjoys the idea of a horrible Halloween, Minnie is left helpless. Soon enough, the first unwelcome guest arrives...

Jafar, accompanied by two dark, hooded assistants, slides sleazily on stage to the melodies of "Arabian Nights", joining in a dance to "Prince Ali" with a flousing glee, helped along by the Pink Witches and some spookily close dancing with Maleficent! A crack of thunder brings the act to a close.

Next, the sea shanty spirit of "Elegant Captain Hook" is brought to stage by the world's most famous crook himself, with black pirate flags waved by a band of pirates dotted with sword scars and the brash orange figures of the Pumpkin Men.

The most pompous power on display is no doubt Gaston, of "Kill the Beast!" fame, displaying his arrogance with a song named... "Gaston". A waltz with Maleficent and a boast about expectorating leads to the chime of a bell and a truly devillish legend of Notre Dame - Frollo, singing of hellfire and burning desire.

The final villain to join the raucous truly has ice in her stare - Cruella De Vil, swinging and stepping to the sounds of her own theme song, two "dalmatian boys" in tow. When the chorus line comes to a close, Minnie finally manages to get a word in - "This is my Halloween party, and we need to be fun, not frightening! Think of all the guests!"

"What do you mean?!" answers Maleficent, "It's good to be bad!". Suddenly, the soundtrack swells and she bursts into a startling solo performance of "It's So Good To Be Bad".

A chirpy Halloween rendition of "Boo to You" from the Disney Villains brings the entire cast together - even Minnie, eventually, who learns that frightening can, sometimes, be fun.

Now the Villains have had their fun, Minnie puts in a final request for a fun finale - "Are You Ready for Halloween", with the Pink Witches and Pumpkin Men running circles around a confused gathering of cowering villains.

For some people, fun can be frightening.

After the Showtime, the cast climb down from the stage to meet guests at the front of the audience, the Pink Witches and Pumpkin Men "trick or treating" with special Halloween sweets as they go.
