Planet Hollywood was launched in New York on 22nd October 1991, with the backing of Hollywood stars Sylvester Stallone, Bruce Willis, Arnold Schwarzenegger, and Demi Moore.

Despite its landmark location within Disney Village, Planet Hollywood only opened in 1996, as the initial phase of the village's first expansion which also included Gaumont Cinemas.  Planet Hollywood restaurants can also be found at Walt Disney World Resort in Florida's Downtown Disney and Tokyo Disney Resort's IKSPIARI.

The handprints of famous Hollywood stars (including Johnny Depp!) can found across the walls of the building, taken from various celebrity visits to the resort over the years.
