History

Café Mickey is located in the former building of LA Bar & Grill, a bar and restaurant that opened with Disney Village (then known as Festival Disney respectively) in 1992.

LA Bar & Grill closed in 2001, with work then beginning on adding the Imagineer's glossy Disney and pop art designs to the restaurant, including countless "hidden mickeys" throughout the restaurant.

Café Mickey opened in March 2002 with a good amount of publicity from the resort. It was the first and only restaurant in Disney Village to feature Character Dining, and one of the only venues at a Disney resort entertainment complex where live Disney characters can be found outside the parks. The restaurant is managed on a day-to-day basis by Groupe Flo.
