Attraction ExperienceHop aboard a Main Street Vehicle for a one-way journey between Town Square and Central Plaza! Each of the vehicles has its own stopping place at each end of Main Street, shown with a 'City Vehicle Stop' sign. Fire TruckAn authentic turn-of-the-century fire truck, in bright bronze and red colours, provides guests with an open-top mode of transport around the town. Luckily, the Volunteer Fire Dept. are never too busy in the sunny, smiling surroundings of Main Street USA. OmnibusA truly modern mode of transport! As people have more places to go and more people to see, the Omnibus is a unique double-decker bus for so called "public transportation" around the city. You can shelter down below or sit up-top for a great view over the street. The sides are decorated with advertisements for the street's profitable stores. Horseless CarriageTravel in the back of a personal carriage "just like the good old days"... but with a trusty gas-powered engine pulling you along! LimousinePrefer not to join the rush of public transport? Flag down the ornate cream-coloured Limousine car and travel in style along the street for a once-in-a-lifetime journey to the heart of Disneyland! PaddywagonThe paddywagon ensures Main Street is always smiling, collecting up the frowning criminals and hauling them off along the street! Luckily that's a very rare occurance, so the Paddywagon can spend its days providing unique old-timer rides for all! Coca-Cola Delivery TruckA refreshing delivery every day, the Coca-Cola truck stops off around the street to serve beverages from its modern electric-chilled compartments! Rides not available. HistoryWhilst the Main Street Vehicles may look like priceless antique means of transport, few of them have ever dated from the turn of the century. Robert Gurr designed the original vehicles in 1954 and 1955 using modern means and engineering, simply designing them to look like "the real thing". The only genuine antique of the original Omnibus in Disneyland California is its authentic Klaxon horn! Tokyo Disneyland features only an Omnibus, circling its Central Plaza, since its indoor World Bazaar entrance street would not accommodate vehicles. However, full vehicle services eventually made their way to the resort with the Big City Vehicles at Tokyo DisneySea's American Waterfront. Main Street USA in Paris has the largest collection of Main Street Vehicles of all of the Magic Kingdom-style parks. Upon opening, it offered guests the chance to ride aboard the Fire Truck, Omnibus, Limousine and Paddywagon. The Fire Truck and Omnibus both had their original 1955 designs updated and "plussed" for the new park, whilst the Limousine is new and the Paddywagon was based on the 'Horseless Carriage' of the American parks, which in its Parisian form has far fewer seats. In 2007, the Coca-Cola Delivery Truck was added to the collection as a brand new refreshments retail vehicle. The Coca-Cola Delivery Truck was designed by DLP-I (Disneyland Resort Paris' own Imagineering branch) and built from scratch entirely in France to their specifications. The truck is based on the original Ford T-Model, the first commercial vehicle to go on sale in the United States during the early 1900s. |
