Leave the modern Main Street Vehicles behind! Take your time to travel in style and climb into one of the classic horse-drawn streetcars of Main Street, shuttling between Town Square and Central Plaza via real tram tracks along the cobbled avenues.

Attraction Experience

When Main Street is full of bustle and activity, the Main Street Vehicles full to capacity and the sidewalks crowded with folks headed hurredly to their destinations, it's the turn of the classic, old-fashioned Horse-Drawn Streetcars to show their worth.

Climb aboard the ornate streetcar either at the interchange with Main Street Railroad Station on Town Square or amongst the gardens of Central Plaza. Then sit back and let the world pass you by, as your good-tempered Percheron horse pounds the cobbled streets to pull you along at relaxing, old-timer pace.

Fun Facts & Footnotes

Unique to Main Street USA at Disneyland Park in Paris is the Main Street Transportation building. Situated on the East side of Town Square, this turn-of-the-century redbrick terminus houses the streetcars when not in operation. But look again at the building, from a distance - does its silhouette seem familiar? The streetcar house has the same silhouette as the original Sleeping Beauty Castle in Disneyland, California!

History

An opening-day attraction at the original Disneyland in 1955, the Horse-Drawn Streetcars are an important part of the movement and change that guests see occuring before their eyes in Main Street USA, as gas turns to electric and horse-power turns to gas-power.

The only two Magic Kingdom-style parks not to feature this traditional attraction are Tokyo Disneyland, due to its indoor World Bazaar entrance street, and Hong Kong Disneyland.

For their debut at Euro Disneyland, the streetcars of the Horse-Drawn Streetcars were entirely redesigned, placing guests facing inwards in a covered cabin rather than open to the elements. The streetcars are considerably more elaborate inside and out than their international cousins, and feature advertisements for such well-known Main Street businesses as Market House Deli and the Main Street Gazette. They are numbered simply 101, 102 and 103, all featuring the wording "Main, Flower and Market Streets" along their sides, relating to the two secondary avenues at the heart of Main Street USA.
