Off to Never Land! A fleet of enchanted
pirate ships are waiting to take you soaring up into the skies above London,
through the Darling household and circling around Big Ben.
Then, with a smile in your heart, follow
the second star to the right and Never Never Land awaits! You'll circle the
island before swooping down to discover that Captain Hook is up to his nasty
tricks again. Have no fear, Peter Pan comes to the rescue and a glittering
finale of pixie dust brings this classic tale to a happy ending.
Fun Facts
Peter Pan's Flight in Paris is the
only version to seat at least 4 guests per flying pirate ship, rather than
the standard 2. It also has the longest ride time - 3 minutes compared
to around 2:30. The classic
Imagineering trick of forced perspective is used to great effect on the
aerial London and Never Land scenes, with the landscape's vertical height
elongated to make it appear further away and the buildings of London much
taller than they truly are. Ride
testing a major part of the creation of any Disney attraction, usually
taking anywhere up to 6 months to complete. On one occasion, a team of
Imagineers became stuck 8 feet up in the air on-board their flying pirate
ship, unable to get down since an emergency ladder had yet to be installed!

History
Incredibly, for such a complex ride, Peter Pan's Flight was one of the
opening day attractions at Disneyland California in 1955. In 1983,
along with much of Fantasyland, Peter Pan's Flight in California underwent a
drastic overhaul. Like other dark rides in the area, this included the
addition of the main character - here Peter Pan - to the show scenes.
Previously, guests would have experienced the attraction as if they were
Peter himself. |
