Enter Disney Channel Studios for a live satellite link-up to outer space, as the real-life Stitch wreaks havoc, interacts and talks live to the audience!

Stitch is 'Live' on TV, and you're in the audience!  This is your chance to experience the buzz of television satellite technology, as the satellites of the Disney Channel Studios in Production Courtyard beam into Outer Space for a live satellite link-up with the ever-mischeivous Stitch!

Not only can you see the little blue monster, he sees you!  Clear your throat, speak loud and clear - this is your one and only opportunity to interact, talk and laugh with Stitch in real-time via state-of-the-art technology developed by the Walt Disney Imagineers themselves!

From the Place des Stars area of Production Courtyard, you see the Art Deco shapes and turqoise windows of the grand Walt Disney Television Studios building, the European home of Disney Channel and your venue for an unforgettable live encounter. Against its yellow facade, the bright comic book-style signage takes you back to the 1950s and 60s, when satellite technology was in its infancy and of which Walt Disney was a proud pioneer.

Outside, the entrance is fashioned like an old-fashioned theatre booth, with one waiting area (to the left) for English shows and another (to the right) for French. Above each, an electronic sign counts down the number of seats still available and the time left before you go "On Air".

Pre-Show Room

Through the queue line and first waiting area, you step into the dark, blue neon-lit pre-show area, decorated with space motifs and art deco touches. Atmospheric music begins the buzz already.

Soon, a giant neon oval on one wall provides an introduction to the "universe" of Disney Channel with four large video screens playing brief clips from the latest hit shows and made-for-TV movies.

Disney Channel Studio

Before you know it, they're ready in the studio! You head through doors at either end of the room to enter the main Disney Channel Studio, an area surrounded by black curtains and colourfully lit by some of the many studio lights hanging above.

As your host welcomes you to the studio, find a seat on the benches. Younger children can sit on the waves in the carpet at the front, making sure the entire audience gets a good video of the giant, crystal-clear screen at the front of the room. On either side, large panels and shapes are illuminated in countless colours.

With everyone seated, the host begins to introduce the technology the Disney Channel uses to bring its magic to the homes of millions across Europe. Right on cue, the studio's satellite aligns perfectly with a ship far in outer space, where you suddenly see a recognisable face - Stitch!

Depending on the show, he could be watching monster movies, talking on the phone or disco dancing under a glitterball. That's the magic of Stitch Live! - no show is ever the same twice. With interaction from the audience helped along by the live host in the room and more than enough tricks up Stitch's sleeve, there's no way of ever predicting what will happen next!

He might frame you as the escaped space prisoner who really stole the cruiser he's aboard, get you to convice Lilo that he's at the zoo, rather than in big trouble, by making animal noises, or even fall in love and name a planet after you - only to delete it from space!

At the end of each recording, Stitch is inevitably tracked by Captain Gantu and forced to escape through coloured hatches in the space station - as the audience, you have to help him find the quickest exit by shouting the colours.

As the lovable blue creature zooms away in his favourite red space cruiser, he shouts back to the people he talked to and wishes you all a great day on Earth - space prisoners included!

  • No show is ever the same twice! Stitch has more than enough tricks up his sleeve to keep this live satellite link-up fresh every time and there's no way of predicting what will happen next!
  • The animation used in Stitch Live! was developed with help from actual animators at the Walt Disney Animation Studios in Burbank, California, in order to ensure it was as close as possible to the look of the original film.
  • Though Stitch's dynamic, real-time movements are calculated using CGI (Computer Generated Imagery) techniques, an overlay commonly known as "cel shading" is applied to make sure Stitch looks exactly like his traditional 2D self.
  • This "Living Characters" initiative from Walt Disney Imagineering has now made its way to the California, Florida, Hong Kong and Paris resorts.  The programme aims to use state-of-the-art technology to bring park guests closer than ever before to some of Disney's unique characters in new and ground-breaking ways. Be sure to also catch the Chef Rémy Ratatouille living character at Rendez-Vous des Stars Restaurant, just next door!
