Every Day at Disneyland Park

Disneyland ParkTips & Advice

How early to find a spot?

You should head to the parade route at least 25 minutes before the parade is due to begin, or up to 45 minutes in advance on busy days or for more popular viewing spots.

Where to watch the dreams?

Disney's Once Upon a Dream Parade stops two times along its route, so wherever you stand you'll be treated to a special show stop.

Seated viewing is available at Le Théâtre du Château.

Main Street Station offers elevated view but crowds gather early.

Never the same show twice

With eight floats and four stops, if you stand in different places each day of your trip you'll see a different show each time!

With such detailed and action-packed floats, simply standing on the opposite side of the parade route also gives a new experience.

Some features, such as the African Tam-Tams, are seasonal or only appear select days each week. Try to see the parade as many times as possible to see all the different details and performances!

Dreams are amazing things - all it takes is a little courage (and a sprinkling of pixie dust) to set them free! And once they're free? There's no stopping them! Imagination runs riot, Laughter and Fun surrounds us all and the greatest Fantasy you've ever seen unfolds before your eyes...

Prepare to experience a brand new parade... Prepare to have your senses filled with magic. Making "once upon a dreams" come true every single day, this is a spectacular mix of vibrant, new, storybook floats, eclectic orchestral music, show-stopping performers and more classic characters than ever before.

Dreams on Parade

Disney's Once Upon a Dream Parade premiered on 31st March 2007 for the 15th Anniversary Celebration of Disneyland Resort Paris. The first entirely new, year-round parade at Disneyland Park almost since the park opened, the parade presents a remarkable leap forward both in technology and the performance of its talented cast.

Floats no longer feature a single film but several characters grouped into unique "dreams". Amongst the characters and dancers, you'll now see bungee acrobats, jugglers, flag throwers, stilt walkers and more. Famous characters from the Disney archives are brought to life like never before through complex, state-of-the-art puppets, and the entire parade sparkles and shimmers in thousands of LED lights and bright strobe effects.

A world-first is the addition of real scents for each float, taking you into the worlds as they pass you by - from candy for the first float to burning embers for the Villains and tropical fruits for The Lion King.

The music is also an innovation - each float has its own soundtrack of specially-arranged classic melodies from the films featured, playing independantly from each float and thus changing constantly as the floats pass by. The entire orchestral soundtrack was recorded by the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra in London!

Come a little closer... turn another page...The greatest show ever to unfold on the Disneyland Park parade route is about to begin, and you're invited!

La Parade des Rêves DisneyDisney's Once Upon a Dream Parade!

Float 1: Dreams of Imagination

Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Goofy, Chip 'n' Dale, Pluto

The parade begins with a burst of imagination, a spark of magic. And then, the dreams take flight! Mickey and Minnie hover high in the sky in a golden hot air balloon, its face smiling with radiance and a sparkling message of "Once Upon a Dream" revealing itself with each turn.

They've dropped anchor on a most dreamy location, the purple curve of a smiling moon, resting on a pile of storybooks. Donald dances on the crest of the moon as Goofy sits on the spines of the novels and blows bubbles into the clouds!

Dreams of Imagination, with its iconic sun balloon and smiling moon, is an original creation just for this parade. Each of the Fab 7 also wears a brand new costume never seen outside of the parade - Mickey in purple, Minnie in pink, Donald in blue, Goofy in orange and Chip 'n' Dale in greeen, all decorated with gold-rimmed clouds.

A large snowglobe replica of this float was produced as merchandise in April 2007. It has also been depicted on a pin.

Scent: Candy, sweets (more info...)

Show Stop: Dancing and guest interaction from the Disney VIP characters, streamers for finale.

Music: When You Wish Upon a Star, Zip-a-Dee-Doo-Dah, Just Like We Dreamed It (Jazz) (more info...)

Effects: Sun rotates with "Once Upon a Dream" in shimmering LEDs. '15' plaque sparkles in LEDs and the cheeks of the smiling moon are also sprinkled with lights, as its eyelids open and close, nodding off to dreamland. The edges of the sun's zig-zag rays have flashing strobe effects and an inkwell next to Goofy blows bubbles. Streamers burst from the float itself.

Treats: Chip 'n' Dale occasionally hand candy sweets out along the parade route!

Float 2: Dreams of Laughter & Fun

Alice in Wonderland • Pinocchio

How do you get to Wonderland? You're there! The Queen of Hearts is marching her playing card guards along the parade route, as the White Rabbit and Mad Hatter greet the guests with a bounce.

Alice isn't having quite so good a day so far - the inquisitive girl has found herself stuck inside the March Hare's cottage, blown up to the size of a giant! She holds a pot of tea in one hand and the March Hare on the other, as Tweedle Dee and Dum cling onto her wriggling feet.

As the English cottage turns to a giant cuckoo clock, you'll spot Cheshire Cat and lounging in the flowers. Filled with clockwork toys, puppets and wooden toys, Pinocchio's dazzling show includes dancers hanging, diving and toppling on bungee ropes from a clock tower on which Jiminy Cricket watches over the parade route.

Following the parade are another group of puppets - this time controlled by puppeteers in bright costumes of countless colours... on stilts!

Bungee dancers were first used in Disneyland's 50th Anniversary "Parade of Dreams", their success bringing them now to Paris!

Scent: Wood, oak (more info...)

Show Stop: Queen of Hearts commands her playing card guards, Pinocchio's bungee puppets perform a high-bouncing routine.

Music: Alice in Wonderland, Hi Diddle-Dee (An Actor's Life for Me), Give a Little Whistle (more info...)

Effects: Alice's head and eyes move side-to-side as her arms quiver in the air and feet wriggle. Smoke appears from the teapot and chimney. Clocks and clockwork toys in the Pinocchio section move, two bungee dancers bounce from the clocktower.

Treats: The Mad Hatter might give you a taste of his Tea Party with a scumptious biscuit!

Float 3: Dreams of Friendship

Toy Story • Winnie the Pooh

Turn another page, and "you've got a friend in me!". As the Green Army Men march forward along the route, shouting their positions through plastic radios, the Roundup Gang and their new friends in Andy's Room clamour together for a spot on Dreams of Friendship, a float filled with bright plastic colours and smiling faces.

Woody rides atop Bullseye, Buzz races on R.C. and Mr Spell says "H-e-l-l-o" to the parade route! Amongst the big gathering of friends, you'll also find Bo Peep, Mr and Mrs Potato Head, Rex and the Little Green Men.

On the next page, Winnie the Pooh (and all his friends, too!) are enjoying a magical tea party in the Hundred Acre Wood, decorated with glowing lanterns. Winnie has his honey, Eeyore has his tail and Tigger has... real bounce!

With a page separating its two scenes, Dreams of Friendship is stylled like a giant pop-up book, particularly on the Winnie the Pooh side.

This float not only marks the first Toy Story-based single float to be featured at Disneyland Park but also the first ever time Winnie the Pooh has been given his own float in a parade!

Scent: Unknown (more info...)

Show Stop: Toys of Andy's Room meet and greet brand new friends in the audience, Hundred Acre Wood sees a special dance routine and much bouncing from Tigger.

Music: Strange Things, You've Got a Friend in Me (more info...)

Effects: Along with countless moving toy parts, Mr Spell has a scrolling LED display showing messages such as "Dreams of Friendship" and RC's headlights are illuminated. Lanterns are lit at Winnie's party.

Float 4: Dreams of Fantasy

Peter Pan • Mary Poppins

A pirates' life is a wonderful life! Buccaneering across the parade route, stumbling to and fro' from side-to-side, a merry band of multicoloured pirates fly their hand-drawn skull and crossbones as Captain Hook shouts orders. What's all the commotion? The ticking crocodile! An enchanted pirate ship! Peter Pan and Wendy are on their way, driven by Tinkerbell clinging onto the mast of the ship.

Peter and Wendy have free reign of the rooftops of London, appearing from countless windows and even the clockface of Big Ben to wave to their supporters along the route below.

The Victorian terraces soon make way to a pavement carousel, with colourful antique horses and two very special riders - Mary Poppins and Bert! Their Jolly Holliday on the Dreams of Fantasy float comes complete with waddling penguins following along behind.

Dreams of Fantasy is described as a very "theatrical" float, its conglomeration of Victorian rooftops, crocodile, pirate ship and carousel all vying for space under the shadow of a crooked Big Ben.

Scent: Unknown (more info...)

Show Stop: Pirates perform a nailbiting flag-throwing routine, with Peter Pan and Wendy enjoying a complex chase from Captain Hook and Mr Smee, choreographed to the music. Mary and Bert join their penguins to dance and meet guests.

Music: Following the Leader, Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious, You Can Fly - You Can Fly - You Can Fly, Spoonful of Sugar (more info...)

Effects: Skull at bow of ship has illuminated eyes, changing colours. Smoke and glitter/confetti bursts from the cannons, joined by flashing strobes. Mary and Bert ride gently around their carousel and the rooftops of London billow with smoke from every chimney.

Float 5: Dreams of Power

Jafar • Chernabog • Maleficent • Evil Queen • Ursula • Scar • Hades

"I have the desire, I have the menace, I have the power!" shrieks Maleficent in the distance. Coming towards you are a flaming, snarling, fire-slinging band of villainous helpers, preparing you for the intensity of Maleficent herself - dressed from head to foot in dazzling, unparalleled red and yellow flames.

The serpent of Jafar wraps itself around the desolate summit of Bald Mountain above, Chernbog, eyes glowing red, flexing his gothic wingspan, reaching out with one hand toward you. Amongst the dead and decaying rockwork are Hades in a spiked chariot, Scar waiting to snap and the Evil Queen cooking up some new potions.

At the rear, the rubbery mass of Ursula fills the mountain with twisting and grabbing tentacles, wild hair and a truly evil grin. As she gleams "Just like we dreamed it!" with an evil snarl, her slimy green sea creatures dart across the parade route, snapping at guests.

Dreams of Power is based on popular stone fountains and carvings of the Baroque style, its creatures and villains intertwined around the summit of Bald Mountain.

Maleficent's astonishing costume measures around 4 metres long, shimmering with metallic fabrics.

The Evil Queen's live appearance is her first not only in a parade but in the whole of Disneyland Park in Paris for more than 10 years!

The Ursula puppet is similar to that seen in Disneyland's 50th Anniversary "Parade of Dreams", whilst the frighteningly lifelike Scar figure is the first of its kind.

Scent: Burning (more info...)

Show Stop: Fire dancers pick up "flaming" juggling sticks for an impressive juggling routine, whilst the slimy sea creatures harass the crowd, Evil Queen casts spells and Maleficent just glares.

Music: A Night on Bald Mountain, Poor Unfortunate Souls, Be Prepared, On a Dark Night (Aladdin) (more info...)

Effects: Chernabog has glowing red eyes, tenses his wings and reaches out with his hand. The Evil Queen's cauldron flashes with strobe lights, Hades' eyes glow. Scar and Ursula move their mouths and bodies to the music and dialogue through puppeteers inside.

Float 6: Dreams of Adventure

The Lion King • The Jungle Book

A giant, aged, jungle tree with falling vines and twisted roots towers over the luscious, green Dreams of Adventure. As the wild animals make their way towards you - anything from ostriches to vultures to elephants, tropical scents fill the air and the Circle of Life begins to unfold again.

Simba stands proudly on Pride Rock, Timon and Pumba cracking jokes below, with Rafiki clinging onto the tree behind. African Tam-Tam bands make frequent appearances for a real experience of Adventure.

Toward the rear of the tree, temple ruins are the home of King Louie - king of the swingers with a belt of bananas - and Baloo - in hilarious cocoanut shell bra and dried grass skirt. Animals from The Jungle Book hang from the tree above, including the hypnotising eyes of Kaa and the menacing stare of tiger Shere Kahn.

The ancient jungle tree carries a huge collection of animals in its branches, including a rhinoceros, elephant, two giraffes, zebra, monkeys, Kaa the snake and Shere Kahn.

All the animals depicted, aside from the moving characters and puppets, have a unique "patchwork" style to their skin, replacing the harsh realism of wild animals with a more childish, storybook feel. This idea was first introduced with the 2005 and 2006 Kids Carnival events, also directed by Katy Harris. The large animals seen before and after the float are infact returning from this discontinued event.

The puppets of Pumba and Simba are almost identical to those seen at The Legend Of The Lion King show. The four major puppets of the parade are the only pieces to have been created outside Europe.

Scent: Jungles, tropical fruits (more info...)

Show Stop: African tam-tams, character interaction and routines from the Vultures and Elephants, ending with streamers.

Music: Circle of Life, Bare Necessities, I Wanna Be Like You (more info...)

Effects: The detailed puppets of Simba and Pumbaa move their mouths, eyes and bodies to the music and dialogue thanks to puppeteers positioned inside the float.

Float 7: Dreams of Romance - Prelude

The Little Mermaid • Aladdin & Jasmine

A tropical garden oasis is the setting for Ariel and Jasmine, with beautiful flowers, sea shells and an enchanted tree bringing a rainbow of colour to their romantic pursuits.

Ariel's clamshell "balcony" is surrounded by hanging vines and sandy-coloured bricks, as if an overgrown garden fountain. A giant hornet and countless other creatures hide in the garden behind, as Aladdin and Jasmine see their romance blossom by the fairytale swing.

Could they be ready for a "Happily Ever After"?...

Strongly European 18th and 19th Century themes are used throughout the two Dreams of Romance floats, from Ariel's seashell "balcony" (Romeo and Juliet) to Jasmine's enchanted garden scene, based on the Jean-Honoré Fragonard painting "The Swing".

The cherubs seen throughout the two floats are from the Beethoven's Symphony No. 6 segment of Disney's Fantasia.

Scent: Flowers (more info...)

Show Stop: Dancers covered in colourful flower petals dance a beautiful, bouncy waltz to the music.

Music: Beauty and the Beast, A Whole New World, Once Upon a Dream (more info...)

Effects: The clamshell atop which Ariel sits is actually fitted with a working waterfall, however this feature is very rarely used. The float is sprinkled with even more shimmering LED lights.

Float 8: Dreams of Romance - Finale

Beauty and the Beast • Snow White • Cinderella • Sleeping Beauty

The grand finale to the entire parade, this giant float features a grand total of four princesses! A Corinthian-style rose-covered temple is an ornate shelter for Beauty and the Beast, whilst the whimsical fairytale bridge is occupied by Snow White and her prince. On the hill before the final "Happily Ever After" stands Cinderella and her Prince Charming.

Sleeping Beauty brings the "Once Upon a Dream" to a grand finale, standing with Prince Fillip on the hillside of a glittering crystal château!

"But if I know you, I know what you'll do, you'll love me at once - the way you did Once Upon a Dream!"

The temple gazebo of Beauty and the Beast is based closely on the 19th Century Temple of Sybil at the heart of the Parc des Buttes Chaumont in Paris, a Corinthian-style temple which sits atop a rocky "island" at the centre of the park.

The final image of the parade is that of a purple dragon stuck in the back of the hillside, a "Just Married" sign around his neck and feet wriggling. Though this dragon appears older, many fans have commented on the resemblance to Epcot's Figment.

Scent: Flowers (more info...)

Show Stop: Princes and Princess climb down from the enchanted hillside to meet their crowds with a royal flare, dancing a beautiful waltz to the music.

Music: Beauty and the Beast, A Whole New World, Once Upon a Dream (more info...)

Effects: The float is articulated (split into two separate sections), joined only by the fairytale bridge atop which Snow Which and her Prince eventually join in a "Dream of Romance". Lit from below, the crystal château is also joined by smoke effects to give the illusion of being high in the clouds! The entire float is covered with glittering lights and flashing strobes.

Dreams on Show

Show Stops/Parade Stops of Disney's Once Upon a Dream Parade
